Stress + Post Op= Feeling Like Crap

Recommended Posts

I feel so terrible. Like I'm not myself at all. I woke up this morning feeling horrible. My tummy was making weird noises and tryin to get up was like a act of god. I don't know if it's stress that's taking a toll on my body or what (had VSG 4/10/12). I am a 25 y/o college student and finishing my finals this week. One class has me so stressed since I fell behind with surgery. I don't know if it is that now with stress I have to be super careful because of the surgery it could be more harmful? I'm just confused. I hate this feeling.

I'm sorry to hear this. Are you taking anything for acid?

What year are you? What classes are you taking?

Finals used to be so iffy for me. One semester i'd be working my tail off, and studying, and be ok...the next I would be stressed and sure I had failed and blah, blah...you know?

Drink all your liquids - eat what you can - protien first. Get in some serious B vitamins!

Good luck!

PS - exercize!

I haven't taken anything like I usually do but I have started again. I'm a senior and was suppose to grad in August but with the surgery the work is too much considering I work fulltime too. So hoping to grad in Dec. I just hate when I don't do well in school.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
