Hormones

Recommended Posts

I feel like I am only 75% in control of my emotions in the past two weeks. I know there are lots of hormones hiding in that adipose tissue that are being released at random intervals. My husband is very understanding as he sees me struggle to control it. For those of you that are a little further out, how long did this last? When did you start to feel stable again? I swear, its like I'm bipolar! I am not really having food issues, I can feel this is pure hormones. I just don't know how long this is supposed to last or if anyone knows any interesting articles on the subject.

I'm about 1 1/2 years out and I STILL have issues with it. It was really bad at first, I felt like I was losing it on several occasions. To make things worse I was on testosterone replacement shots and as I lost weight my T level went way up - less me with the same amount of hormones drove it sky high. I adjusted the level down and now take only about 1/8th the amount I started out on.

The rest is kind of a mystery to me and I suspect it is much the same issue, hormones getting too high because of body mass dropping. It does seem to get better with time but like I said it still seems to be an issue from time to time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
