Here In San Diego...doesn't Feel Real Yet...

Recommended Posts

I am so glad that I am not the only one having these thoughts. I leave for Mexico a wee from Tuesday. I literally will only allow myself think in about 30 min increments or I start to panic. We all know that this is the right thing and we have to believe we will be totally fine.

You will do great! Thrilled for you.

I am scheduled for July 9 and fly into San Diego on July 8. It was the earliest date possible. Well, actually, late June was possible but it conflicted with a work commitent that I must keep.

I can hardly wait for your report!

WELL, LADIES. I WENT THROUGH WITH IT AND DIDN'T chicken OUT. MY SORENESS IS MINIMAL. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE NAUSEA AND DRY WRETCHING. DR.GARCIA AND HIS TEAM ARE SO COMFORTING. IT'S NICE AND CLEAN HERE. I'M COMFORTABLE. THEY LET YOU USE THE CORDLESS TO MAKE ALL YOUR CALLABLE SO I DON'T GO HOME TO A CRAZY PHONE BILL. I HAD THE FIRST LEAK TEST AND THREW SOME OF IT UP. IT WAS CLEAR BUT SO NASTY. NO LEAKS SO I WILL FINALLY GET SOMETHING TO SIP ON VERY SOON. WHILE I'M WAITING I SNUCK A PEPPERMINT candy AND THAT HELPED WITH THE NAUSEA. THAT'S ALL I CAN THINK OF NOW BIT IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO ASK ANYTHING PLEASE DO ASK. THANKS FOR ALL THE WELL WISHES AND COMMENTS. THEY ARE APPRECIATED!

Hey, I'm finally back in San Diego waiting on my plane home!! I had the jp drain in for 2 days. I don't have the nausea anymore but now I have heartburn. I forgot the gas x strips so these tums are gonna have to hold me over till I get home. also not to ne negative but the driver didn't call me the night before to coordinate what te to pick me up like he said he would so I didn't get good rest cuzz I was worried I would miss my plane. The front desk finally got ahold of him and he came quickly. he's a very nice guy, we had time to kill when I first arrived so he took me sight seeing. Just get it together when he will pick u up to take u home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
