dying2Bhealthy 60 Posted May 11, 2012 I will be post-op 6 months on the 14th, & for the very first time have had severe pain after eating. I took 5 or 6 bites of steak w/bell pepper & onion mixed with rice. (I do not normally eat any types of starch, but was eating out & the failed to remove the rice from my meal) So I sort of picked around and after the 6th bite felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Immediately after it felt hard to breathe & I had pain radiating through my shoulders. Im a little nervous! Okay, I lied, A LOT nervous! I took a gasX strip when I got home, about an hour ago, but I am still having the shoulder pain and pain right under my rib cage. Any ideas?

neeve 12 Posted May 11, 2012 I would say maybe its the pepper. Write down what you ate see if it happens with anything else. Im only 9days post op so im guessing
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm thinking you over-filled your sleeve without intending to do so. For some reason all starchy foods make me fill up very fast. Once bread, Pasta or rice hit my sleeve, it's like they turn into a huge sponge and prevent me from eating anything else. I'm also careful to not drink too close to any meal where I have had starches. Rice is the worst offender for me. I can only suggest walking as a cure, and wait a little while before you drink anything.
chitowngirl 886 Posted May 11, 2012 Hope you feel better. If it is something you ate it the symptoms should be gone soon. I know this may not seem appealing, but once you can tolerate it, you should try to eat what you would consider one of your safe foods. If you get no symptoms know that it was more than likely what ever you ate. However If the pain does not go away soon, or if you get pains after safe foods then you should contact your surgeon immediately.
