Day 1 After Surgery!

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery noonish yesterday. Besides some massive gas pain in my shoulder that won't go away despite all the walking/gas-x strips in the world I'm doin good. Just want the pain to go away so I can take a deep breath! Lozenges were a life saver, i have never been so dry

Biotene in a pump from Walmart will coat your mouth, too.

Walk, walk, walk...it wil relieve the gas. Just about the only thing that will.

Glad to know you made it through surgery okay. You are officially no longer a bandster! THAT has to feel awesome. Keep walking. Hopefully the gas pains will subside soon.

This is so weird already. Can't tell if I'm hungry or full...tired a lot. Off work til Monday but could probably go back now if I wanted to. Ready for the weight loss to start. I imagine i'll have swelling for a while and that's why i'm up a couple lbs. Started full liquids again yay! Can lay on my side again! Fever finally went away

was the dr who did the sleeve the same as who did the band? did he recommend the sleeve to you or lean against it?

I don't know who you're asking but mine was the same surgeon. Mine never suggested anything, it was my idea. He didn't really ask me any questions, just started the process. I don't think he would have ever suggested it on his own but I'm sure he was happy for the extra income lol

I had two different doctors. I am one of the blessed ones as the doctor hat did my lapband (1-800-get thin) are having all kinds of issues. They had 5 deaths associated with the lapband at the same time I had mine put it. They are being investigated for insurance fraud too. After getting quite a few declined bills from my insurance I was able to get care through the VA and they did my sleeve. Hope this was not too long.

well thank God you didn't have problems. so I'm guessing you are happy with the sleeve? do you ever worry if anything bad can happen to your stomach after many years out? I'm wondering crazy things?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
