i can do a shake for breakfast.shake for lunch and dinner would be Protein only.in between sugar free Jello and boullion only.water also.i guess when i leave work im so hungry from not eating at work those those shakes that all i think about is food

If you're starving eat a piece of meat or boiled egg or some string cheese I've had to do that and it won't hurt your weight loss

Anyone else here not do a preop diet? I'm June the 4th I go to see the surgeon on the 29th and also have a preop class on the 30th. But there is no preop diet other than 2 days of clears before surgery. I see everyone on here doing 2 weeks and it scares me! What if my liver is too big? Ect,ect, ect! I trust my surgeon and staff the center is a center for bariatric excellence and he is a top trained surgeon. People from all over the country come to him for their surgery and his complication rate is well below the national average. I know he knows what he is doing but it's all so confusing lol! I'm gonna make a list of questions for when I see him next week. Sorry for the long rant!

I don't have a pre op diet. I just can't eat past midnight night before surgery. I'm afraid I'm going to gain weight too because I stopped one of my meds and it can cause you to gain weight. I think I'm gonna do some mirolax or something couple days prior just to be safe.

My Dr requires a pre-op diet that is 30g carbs or less for 30 days and then two days before surgery you do a bowel prep with the magnesium citrate. But, thankfully no liquid diet before because I have two weeks of it afterwards.

Nope no preop diet , only the night before ...if I was able to do a 2 week liquid diet , I wouldn't need this surgery LOL I give you all alot of credit being able to , but my DR doesnt require it ...my op date is June 6 so I figure I'll start to ease up like 3 days before

Ok guys so this past week was hell. I received a call from my surgeons office on Fridays saying that my PCP hadn't cleared me for surgery because my blood/iron levels were low. Needless to say I was livid!!! So I spoke with my PCP and she told me it would be better to wait several weeks to build back up reserves....several weeks!!! I told her I still wanted it done in June and that I would do what I needed to, to get my levels up, so I started taking my Iron pills twice a day along with eating red meat, liver veggies, raisins, and algae. Just had my blood drawn today wish me luck....tentative new date is June 11th

Hello to all the June sleevers and please come back here and keep us posted on your journey!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
