bogeydog 30 Posted May 10, 2012 I don't want to sound like an idiot when I go in for my pre surgery consult, so does anyone on here know how to correctly pronounce bougie? Also, what optimal size should I be looking for him to use?
twoboysandagirl 109 Posted May 10, 2012 I had that same question ...bougie /bou·gie/ (boo-zhe´) a slender, flexible, hollow or solid, cylindrical instrument for introduction into the urethra or other tubular organ, usually for calibrating... from a medicaldictionary online 1 BenisaMartim4 reacted to this
Joni 94 Posted May 10, 2012 Pronounced as boo-gee. Surgeons usually have their own idea of what size to use, not sure if you can tell him what to use. I think mine was a 32. He said that's what they've had the optimal weight loss with.
AliveAgain 283 Posted May 10, 2012 It's the French word for candle...

beautifulnewme2012 164 Posted May 10, 2012 I just asked my surgeon how to pronounce it...he uses a 36 but sews over the staples making it slightly even smaller than that...anywhere from a 32 to 38 is optimal, or so that's what I have been reading on all the research I have done!
