August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Recommended Posts

HEY, I WOULD DRAG YOU THERE IF YOU COULD FIT IN :D I am actually taking my backpack and one carry on so I can bring home MX vanilla. If you have someone coming with you, send them out to get some. It is amazing. I bake cupcakes as a hobby (well, I used to) and it is so good. Much better than the kind we get in US. I like Madagascar vanilla but it is less expensive in MX and just as good.

I already use it. I have both actually the dark and the clear. There is tons of perks of Living in Texas!! There is always someone going to Mexico so naturally I send them with my shopping list for spices, medicines and what not. etc.

I love there vanilla to always ask anyone going there to pick me up some, I actually still have some from son going last year. but darn not taking check on luggage this time so not getting anything. I assume it has to go in checked baggage cause its a liquid, correct? I do wonder about if there is medicine we can buy down there cheaper to bring back but then are we alowed to do stuff like that, with new requlatins f flying just never sure now. I have looked the TSA rules up but some times ya still wonder

Stormwarning, I have only been in a funk (actually a horrid mood) one day and that was day before yesterday. Done fairly well other than that day. Had no patience at all. Not good to be at VBS with about 160 kiddos on that day!!!

Yep definitely a stall here. Although I kept questioning myself if that was even possible. I am stuck on 314. I really was hoping/trying to be 300 or less for surgery, but I am not going to be myself up over it, I have lost 8lbs so far, shrunk some inches although I do know how many cause it never occured to me to take measurements.

Take pictures in the pants you plan to keep as your beginning pants. then when we get skinny, we can fit in one leg :o Well, they will be way huge on us anyway!! Get your own journal for $1.00 at Michael's and weigh and measure. We gotta do this for ourselves, this is a journey!!!

I'm telling you, I think it's the pre-op diet. Once the carbs get out of our systems, and the body begins to burn fat, it puts us in a state of ketosis, which always makes me feel giddy. Keep it up! :D

Hey my lovies! Okay so ... I am going to be creating the new list shortly. But, in the mean time...if you have Facebook (which you should!) I have created a group for us on there.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/486344818061300/

There is the link. Some of you i dont know by name but if you wish to be invited add me and I can invite you to the group. I figured that might be easier for some of us to communicate and we can have live chats there. I can also create events and give shout outs to the new sleevers as we go through the process. We can share photos and stuff as well. I have it set to "secret" so no one can see what you post or even that you joined the group. (In case anyones surgery is secret) Hopefully that link works.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
