StormWarning 194 Posted July 14, 2012 Question of the day- what type of exercise will you do after your cleared? Dvd's? Treadmill? Running? Walking? Gym? Wii? Weight lifting??? I've always wanted to be a runner, i feel so free when I run (or when i used to) I can't wait to run my first 5k I have always been and some what still am an active person. The weight gain has just made some things more difficult or have had to alter how I do my favorite activities. I have a treadmill that I walk/jog 2-3 miles several times a week permitting I am not working at my parents. I am a big volleyball player, love basketball, extreme Water sports (limited now cause i have a whole lot of butt to be pulling out of the water to ski) and will swim 12 hours a day if allowed. Everyone teases me and says I must of been born with fins. Water aerobics and swimming are going to be my most used exercise. Those two will truly burn more calories and tone more muscles than any other exercise machine, all while having fun in water assuming you would like the water as much as me. iggychic 1,405 Posted July 14, 2012 LOL! I will have to take small bites and chew a lot after I am sleeved teeheeeheee....Actually on a responsible note I just bought ten months worth of Biotin today lol...the supplement store is closing down' date=' so I got a great deal...I am not THAT organized lol. I also purchased Protein Powder and ummm I got a herb that acts like a anti-inflamatory for after the surgery. I figure better to err on the side of caution against leaks. EEK! I am taking Jello sugarfree down to Mexico, as I was told they don't sell it at the market there lol. Oooh and I was oogling the sugar free candies for after the barium test. I restrained myself though, and just thought to myself....soon my little darlings you will be bouncing in my purse across TWO borders lol! The only ironic part about enjoying my shopping trip today, is that I woke up this morning completely panicking about this whole decision. I was actually sick to my stomach and then I had a shower, and put on my big girl panties and brushed it off. I just hope when I wake up like that I can remember to put one foot in front of the other each time. Do you guys get nightmares? Or wake up anxious and completely back on the fence about this? I am a hot mess 50% of the time lol[/quote'] I'm actually just a little worried because I have a six year old who has a rare disorder and he needs me (ironic....he has zero hunger drive and is in the zero percentile for size if I don't watch him constantly). But I'm also doing this for him and know it will be worth it...especially when all I have to put on are petite girl panties lol. I think that I feel less worry because I'm doing this close to home. For some reason leaving the country would add to my stress as I couldn't take him there and wouldn't want to leave him too long. That's probably stupid but that's how my mind works. You're gonna be fine girlfriend and perhaps on your next trip to mx you'll be packing thongs instead of big girl panties : p
Audrey523 55 Posted July 14, 2012 I'm getting my sleeve on August 22nd! I'm 44 and live in New York. I have 3 kids and I need to get this weight off and keep it off to keep up with my 3 year old! I was leaning toward getting the lap band but after discussing my options with my surgeon I decided the sleeve is better for me! I'm very excited but a little nervous too. Can't wait to get healthy and hot! lol <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Hi there Minniemouse. Love your name. I'm also a New Yorker getting sleeved on August 20. Welcome to this amazing thread. Where are you getting your surgery?
runner 53 Posted July 14, 2012 Good Morning ladies =) I have my date, August 27th with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Osuana in Tijuana Mexico. I am 33 on August 2nd and 5'2 and 230ish. I need to lose aprox 120 lbs to be healthy. Genetically speaking....well I have one thin cousin I am sooo thankful that I found this thread. Waking up panicking about this decision has not been fun the last week or so. I sent off my deposit yesterday, booked the flights and updated my passport (it will be here by the end of July) ....so now I get to stew...yup, pure delight.... I chose my doctors from review lists, and the fact that I got two for the price of one appealed to me. As some of the doctors down there are on call for more than one hospital and don't have time to come and check on you. I wanted to make sure I could improve my odds if something should come up to have a doctor see me sooner rather than later. Cost also was a factor, not going to lie. I am a self pay. I am using A Lighter Me to coordinate the surgery which is nice too, because then I know that a third party that is knowledgeable in these matters can guide me with my apprehension. I have two amazing daughters, and want to make this process as easy as possible on them. So, having someone setting everything up and doing it via email is easiest so that they don't have to worry as much. As my 11 year old has rather large ears lol. Good luck and peaceful dreams till your journeys hit fruition. Hello from Red deer! I'm having my surgery aug 30th, we will be recovering together.
runner 53 Posted July 14, 2012 QOTD: I run now and I'm going to keep running! I just started running 10km races this year. next year I will attempt my first half marathon and I'm willing to bet my time for that will be the same time or close to the time I did my 10k this year. The biggest difference will be that I won't hurt for days after I love running and can't wait to really do it I'm also doing a mud hero run this month. I will be doing things like that. I like to dance so maybe some Zumba classes or something like that. I can't wait!!

minniemouse67 32 Posted July 14, 2012 Thanks Audrey, I'm getting banded through tri state bariatrics with Dr. Weiss. I live in Putnam County, 5 minutes from the Westchester County border. My surgeon is in fishkill and Middletown but the actual surgery is in Port Jervis which is far from me but I've heard good things about my surgeon so I figure it's worth the trip! Where are you getting banded? I saw you were a special ed teacher. I used to be too and taught in the Bronx for the board of ed.
minniemouse67 32 Posted July 14, 2012 After my surgery I'm hoping to hit the gym again and actually get my moneys worth for my membership. My three dogs are also looking forward to my surgery. I promised to take them for some nice long walks! 3 leprechaunmomma, futureskinnypants and Tammy Ansley reacted to this
