Recommended Posts

Hi all ! I'm being sleeved August 8th, 2012 by Dr Morris Washington in Myrtle Beach SC. Is there any other august sleevers on here?

I'm 27 (almost) ---about 100-130 to lose.

I'm an August sleever. The 23rd by Dr. Kelly in Mexico. You can keep me informed of what to expect since you're first! 100lbs would be fantastic. 120 to 130 would be a dream come true!

Finally some August people ! I'm going to Dr.Almanza in Mexico, my surgery is on the 14th..I'm so excited it's all I think about...I am 303 last time I checked..and 5'9 and a size 22. I hope to get down to 150.. I have to do a 1 week liquid diet. I'm making changes to how I eat from now. So it's not so hard in the future. I read these forums far too much lol...and really am scared that I will have a stall like some people mention. I just plan to stick to the plan religiously and not cheat. I'm going to start waking and riding my bike.

I'm an August sleeker,

I chose my dr. Because he was at a center of excellence and I liked their (the office's) approach. I went to 4 different WLS seminars and checked out all 4 centers. I went with gbmc in Baltimore. In fact I'm there in the waiting room right now.

Hi!! I am set for Aug. 6th and can't wait. I am happy to have found you all on here. I am 39 years old and need to lose 140 pounds to be healthy. I haven't always had a weight problem, it started when I was 22 or so. Used to be college athlete and work out daily and now I can't barely walk a block without pain in knee, feet, back. I have to do this to be able to exercise and get my life back. I am happy for all of us to be on this journey together.

Yes future, thank you! Keep me up to date with progress. Are you trying to lose weight before surgery? I just feel as if I will get no where until I am sleeved.

I'm 41. 5'4". 260lbs. Large bones for being short. I too was not this way until the age of almost 30. Then my thyroid got walked out. If I can loose 100 great. If I can lose 120 to 130, even better!

5'4" must be the magic height for August. I'm also 5'4" and 240 lbs.

MGM, I also started my weight issues when my thyroid went out of wack. Then baby, stress and loving food kept the weight building. I am 5'6 and am hovering 300 pounds. Oh my gosh, just saying that number scares me. It is so weird, up until this past year when I looked in the mirror I saw myself as how I used to look. Not until I saw pictures of myself 8 months ago did it all hit me. I did not recognize the person in the picture. I really could not believe it as me. Anyway, I am so ready, little nervous but ready!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
