Yes I researched my surgeon. He has only been in Bariatrics 2 years. But he has been a general surgeon for 20 years. He sleeved a friend of mine she is doing great. I havent met him yet and wont until the day before surgery. Makes me nervous. Its my fault though. His office is located pretty far from work and I was scared to take off when i was temp. I did all my appointments withe one of the after care docs near my work. Im sure IM fine. just a scardy cat

An August Sleevers get together would be great. Dr. Alvarez also has a yearly get together for his patients. I am planning to attend that one if I possibly can too.

Found out today I'll be giving myself daily injections (3) of Leptin for 2 weeks. Luckily this doesn't phase me, just wondering of anyone else's surgeon is having them do this? Apparently mine does for all his patients, it prevents blood clots.

Of course I don't know from experience...but i have seen some forum friends go through it and text me every step of the way...and it seems like being scared is a normal occurrence at some point of this pre op journey. All of the what if's come about. Mine happened about 3 weeks ago and I actually had my first panic attack. I realized I was less than a month from surgery. Now, Here I am a little less than 2 weeks from it and it's settling in, this is happening. This is what I want. Just try to calm yourself down , no point in worrying as long as you have confidence in your self and your doctor! We're all here for you!

I am a little late chiming in, but I am scheduled to be sleeved on August 10, 2012 by Dr. Garcia in Tijuana. I am getting anxious and will be starting my pre-op diet on August 1. I look forward to following all of my fellow August sleevers!!!

QOTD-How many of you would be interested in a meeting event in a year or two if we're all still posting together on this board?

Count me in! That sounds like a great idea! :-)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
