I spoke with my surgeon about this and she said if it is going to happen, it will most likely be between 5-10 years. This is still kinda freaky, anyone have any additional news? I did hear it could happen quicker, but has anyone here had theirs removed because of this, or heard of someone?

I know it hasn't been around for a real long time, but any info would be great!

Thanks!

Follow those links I posted the other day. One of the case studies was a woman who had never had a fill, and at 7-8 months her band had eroded.

I have an offline friend whose banded eroded and had to be removed before her one year anniversary.

I think I just read about someone else being eroded at 7-8 months. So "long term" is not a requirement for this complication.

It happens, but to a small percentage - regardless of "when."

I wish there were better statistics on this!

I keep praying for a quick recovery now I am adding in no band erosion!

All these things are going through my mind over and over, it can get quite scary!

Thanks Donali, you insight and knowledge is always a welcome!!

Dr. Ortiz said that most errosion occurs within the first two years. But I forgot to ask what the symptoms are. Can't we just drink battery acid or something to clean the errosion?

I heard several surgeons at the Texas Bandster Bash in April state that in most circumstances a band erosion is not a serious thing. The stomach wall heals over the band so it is not as if the band is actually inside the stomach. They said it usually requires no treatment at all and does not affect the functioning of the band. One of these surgeons was Dr. Rumbaut of Monterrey, Mexico who is a proctor for Inamed. Obviously, it is not something anyone wants to have happen, but maybe it does not automatically mean band removal either. I don't know, I'm just reporting what I heard.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
