minniefaises 8 Posted May 9, 2012 WHEN IS IT PLAUSIBLE TO THINK ABOUT RIDING AGAIN? I'M A WEEK OUT, AND I'M BOUT TO GO CRAZY LOOKING AT MY BIKE! SMITTY
LilMsRose 8 Posted May 9, 2012 I talked to my surgeon about that yesterday. He told me at least the first week no riding. After that if I am not taking any pain medications and I feel up to it that i can ride. But then he told me no heavy lifting until he sees me after my 1 week follow up. You may want to talk to your surgeon every surgeon has different guidelines.
minniefaises 8 Posted May 9, 2012 I TALKED TO MY SURGEON TO, HE PRETTY MUCH SAID WAIT UNTIL YOU FEEL READY, I WAS READY SOON AS I GOT HOME! (LOL) I GUESS I'LL PULL HER OUT TODAY, AND SEE HOW SHE FEELS TO ME. SMITTY
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted May 9, 2012 Remember, you can't lift anything over 10 lbs. So if you have to lift her, then please wait. Hate to see you hurt yourself.
Rootman 1,101 Posted May 9, 2012 Yeah, what dorrie said. You should be OK UNLESS something goes haywire, get into a tough situation and maybe high side the bike or pull a tank slapper you MIGHT just hurt something. You just had major surgery and had a large portion of an internal organ cut out, so give yourself a few weeks at least. That my $0.02 at least.
Cobrargc 25 Posted May 9, 2012 I was sleeved on March 7th. I rode my bike from Omaha to KC on the March 22nd for my two week follow up. It wasn't a bad ride, but the last hour or so on the way back was a little uncomfortable. I think the largest incision was getting a little tender.
minniefaises 8 Posted May 10, 2012 THANX, GUYS, NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR, BUT GREAT ADVICE. I'LL WAIT A FEW DAYS, JUST FOR GP, AND TO KEEP MY PARENTS & SISTER IN LAW COOL. (LOL) I WILL BE RIDING BY THE 19TH OF THIS MONTH, IF NOT JUST FOR SHORT DISTANCES. SMITTY
