Always Neaseated After Eating

Recommended Posts

Im almost 3 months out and I still feel sick to my stomach and nauseated and weak after I eat or drink Protein Drinks. Usually lasts anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Doctor prescribed anti-nausea medicine. I dont take it all the time because one of the side affects is fatigue. Im really discouraged by this. I pray to the good Lord that this is just a "phase" I have to go through. Anyone else having this problem?

Wow, at 3 months - that bites! Is it just the Protein shakes that make you nauseous? I'm assuming you've tried different drinks... and the doctors don't have any other suggestions? I'm surprised. I know what you mean about the fatigue after anti-nausea meds, though!

Gosh, I'm not much help here, I'm just sorry that you're struggling with this! I hope it gets better for you soon!

I'm five out and am living on Optifast coffee shakes with an added scoop of Protein for Breakfast. Lemmie tell you....foul!! Like you I feel like barfing about 15 minutes after finishing. It is putrid and hangs around. Just the thought of drinking the stuff makes me feel ill. I saw here yesterday that someone was mixing unflavoured Protein Powder with any food they ate. I think I'm going to try that as shakes are wearing thin.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
