How Do You Make Protein Drinks Thick/thicker Or Like A Malt

Recommended Posts

Hello All! I was wondering, how do you make a Protein Drink thick/or thicker? Like a malt consistency? I gotta make these drinks tasty some how. When I put it in the blender or the magic bullet with milk or Water or juice with ice, the top half always comes out FOAMY, YUKKKKKK :-/ !!!!!!

Thank You in advance. I appreciate any info or help.

maybe add some greek yogurt to the blender? (like an ice cream replacement if you were making a milkshake)?

I have not figured this out either. The ones I make in the blender are foamy which i hate. I know mix unflavored in a shaker cup with orange juice and shake it up really good and drink it with a straw so I dont get the foam. It works for me. Unjury separates out and you just get the juice from the bottom and I stop before I get the foam but Jarrow brand unflavored stays in solution, doesnt separate and is not really foamy at all. I like it the best. It took me months to find this combo that worked for me. I am a OJ lover though and it doesnt change the taste of it at all!

It's always foamy in the blender for me too and I hate the foam. I make the drink in the blender without the Protein powder, then mix the Protein Powder in at the end. I mix the Protein Powder with a little of the liquid (milk, soy milk, coffee) first so it blends in better.

Put ice in a blender, then your liquids & Protein powder... Nice & thick like a Wendy's Frosty only better for you! Also try adding sugar free pudding mix (only a little) it will give you more flavor.

No fail method....add a piece of banana. Be careful not to put in too much ice -3 cubes should do it. Blend til thick.

I couldn't deal with the foam, so I stick with the ready to drink shakes. Way better!

I noticed that too and set it in the fridge for 1/2 hour then just shake it up. But that is if you have time. I also add some ice too before you blend. it helps.

I put 1/3 of a bananna in. I know I'm not sposto have anything but the drinks, but the plain drinks were unpalatable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
