wow_girl31 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Its been 5 days since my surgery and I have no problems drinking and eating. My stomach is gurgling and I feel hungry. I drink Water and Protein but it doesn't hold me over fur long. It's only 2pm and I've had 8oz yogurt/soup 10oz water and 4oz Protein Shake. I don't know if I should be concerned or not. finaly4me 18 Posted May 8, 2012 Your really not hungry. Its head hunger. Drink Water. Dont over eat. Seriously. I still have head hunger and I'm 2 months out. Stay with your diet.and stay busy when you feel hungry.good luck
CamarilloCA 41 Posted May 8, 2012 I had some of that too. I think, for me, some of that was head hunger. From what I have read here on this forum in someone's post, the ghrelin in your body takes a little while to stop having affect on your hunger even after it is removed with 85% of your stomach. I don't actually know if that is a true statement or not, but I do know that my ravenous hunger went away after a few days. The gurgling is totally normal and will subside also. Keep drinking your liquids when you feel hungry and don't forget your sugar free popsicals. Have as many as you need to feel satiated.
ibthin 3 Posted May 8, 2012 I really found that if i took my Protein Shakes (2 a day for me right now) at 8 oz each then I do not get that hungry. Ive been doing shake in the morning then 30 min later i start sipping, Water, Vitamin water or other liquids. every 3 hrs or so I have a snack (popsicle, yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat, etc but about 4 oz is all i can take in) then I have my next Protein Shake in the evenings. Its been 8 days since surgery for me 1 TakeDeLongWayHome reacted to this
wow_girl31 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Thank you all do much for the feed back. I will take all of this into consideration. I think the problem is I'm not drinking enough liquids between shakes and food. I'll change that.
hadouni 301 Posted May 8, 2012 That's about when it hit me too. I had surgery on a Monday and by Saturday I was ready to gnaw on my hand. I was drinking two strained Soups nearly back to back for the last two days of week 1. I was on Clear Liquids the first week and was able to have "full liquids" in week 2. I was SO ready to add some more substantial soups in. Split pea Soup was a favorite for sure in week 2.
