Its been 5 days since my surgery and I have no problems drinking and eating. My stomach is gurgling and I feel hungry. I drink Water and Protein but it doesn't hold me over fur long. It's only 2pm and I've had 8oz yogurt/soup 10oz water and 4oz Protein Shake. I don't know if I should be concerned or not.

I had some of that too. I think, for me, some of that was head hunger. From what I have read here on this forum in someone's post, the ghrelin in your body takes a little while to stop having affect on your hunger even after it is removed with 85% of your stomach. I don't actually know if that is a true statement or not, but I do know that my ravenous hunger went away after a few days.

The gurgling is totally normal and will subside also.

Keep drinking your liquids when you feel hungry and don't forget your sugar free popsicals. Have as many as you need to feel satiated.

I really found that if i took my Protein Shakes (2 a day for me right now) at 8 oz each then I do not get that hungry. Ive been doing shake in the morning then 30 min later i start sipping, Water, Vitamin water or other liquids. every 3 hrs or so I have a snack (popsicle, yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat, etc but about 4 oz is all i can take in) then I have my next Protein Shake in the evenings. Its been 8 days since surgery for me

Thank you all do much for the feed back. I will take all of this into consideration. I think the problem is I'm not drinking enough liquids between shakes and food. I'll change that.

That's about when it hit me too. I had surgery on a Monday and by Saturday I was ready to gnaw on my hand. I was drinking two strained Soups nearly back to back for the last two days of week 1. I was on Clear Liquids the first week and was able to have "full liquids" in week 2. I was SO ready to add some more substantial soups in. Split pea Soup was a favorite for sure in week 2.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
