mommyinneed 25 Posted May 8, 2012 Ok so do any of you know if hospitals in mexico have a blood supply incase something goes wrong? Do the surgeons verify what blood type you are? Also, i know some surgeons in the states give blood thinner shots post op, does anyone know if the mexican surgeons do as well? What type of pain meds do they give you? can you drink the next day? I have so many questions still. Help! I have 8 days till surgery,.
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted May 8, 2012 I would assume each surgeon in Mexico does things differently just as the US surgeons do here. I'd suggest you call you particular surgeon. Good luck to you! ~Amy
mommyinneed 25 Posted May 8, 2012 What I meant to ask was has anyone experienced this and did they know for sure if there was. I was informed there was two blood banks however, I wanted to verify.
Foxbins 625 Posted May 8, 2012 I had my surgery in Almater Hospital and there was blood available and an ICU if I needed them; however, I have never heard of anyone here requiring a transfusion after VSG. I am not saying it doesn't happen, just that no one has posted about it that I recall. I got a shot of heparin in the abdomen after surgery or immediately before, I can't remember exactly now. Whatever meds they put in my IV for pain worked perfectly as I was not in pain--sore, but not too bad. I could drink in tiny sips the day after surgery. You will do fine I'm sure. Melissa D 34 Posted May 9, 2012 If blood thinners are an issue, why are we supposed to go off aspirin two weeks before surgery?
BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted May 10, 2012 I know Dr. Ponce does for both of your questions. I don't know about other Mexican surgeons.
BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted May 10, 2012 I talk a little it about that on one of my videos Melissa. It has to do with the mechanism of aspirin, versus low molecular weight heparin (or other blood thinners). I also posted links to some research if you want to look at it. Finding Myself 146 Posted May 10, 2012 Dr Kelly and Florence Hospital do. They type you as part of your pre op testing and have blood available for you if you need it. (this was one of my questions too)
