Beans, not peas. I think peas come later because of their carb content..

I had Beans in my mushy stage too, and, boy, was I sorry that I ate them. It caused major gas and pain in my new stomach. I plan to stay away from them in the future or only eat a small amount of them. The gas they create is not fun.

I eat Beans regularly. Favorite way to cook is in the crockpot. Yummy, especially since surgery. I have a 1.5 quart crockpot that I'll start a cup of beans and a piece of meat (anything I like) in before I leave in the morning. When I get home at night, I spice it to my liking and enjoy! NO salt in beans until they are soft, FYI.

I discovered very quickly that I am not a huge bean fan. I tried pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. They were okay. I think I really enjoyed the hot sauce the most. I tried northern beans; they were okay. Cannelini and kidney Beans were too hard. Lady peas were okay mashed. Basically, on the mushy diet, which for me was week three and four, I ate mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC. I ate green beans from KFC. One bowl of mashed potatoes (one serving) and one of beans would make four big meals. I also made a pimento cheese - one spoon of grated cheese and tsp of mayo on 2 saltines. I tried cottage cheese with banana and splenda and cinnamon, heated for about 20 seconds in the microwave. That was pretty good. Egg whites cooked slowly in microwave, topped with cinnamon and splenda. one egg omelets with a little cheese. I also soft boiled eggs and made grits, used the yolk and a little white in grits. That was good. Cooked summer squash with a little gravy on top. It sounds bad but it was one of the things the bariatric coordinator suggested, and it was actually pretty good. The tablespoon or so of gravy makes the vegetables a little thinner. I used a pre-packaged mix. I made egg salad on two saltines. I think that was pretty much what I ate during mushies stage. I ate green beans and not too many other kinds of beans. I hope this helps you find something you can live with or tweak...because it is a bit of a transition until you can eat meat. Meat sticks with you a long time. I just started meat. I ate shredded chicken (that I had cooked on stove) with hot sauce and a little ranch. I put it in my food processor instead of cutting it. I have also had a little taco meat and guacamole.

Refried Beans were a week 3 food for me. I could only eat a few bites though because I didn't thin them down. They were probably too thick for me to eat that soon in retrospect.

I like most Beans, peas, lentils. I made some bean Soup in my second week and pureed it so it was ok for me in that week. It was pretty good and kept me full. I eat legumes regularly, because they are a good source of Protein and I've never been a big meat eater. Humus is another food I consume on a regular basis. Legumes can give one the toots so if this is something you know about yourself maybe try some gas-x or bean-o?

Beans are my favorite foods I started eating them two weeks after. Today, I eat them at least 3x per week, I make chili with 4 types of beans, stewed beans (new orleans style) with either red beans or black beans. I make my own refried beans with kidney beans and also scramble an egg and put some chili beans on top for extra protien. Since I am gluten free I don't know what I would do without my beans.

It's true that Beans are a great source of Protein, but you really should ask your doctor or nutritionist if you have a new sleeve because beans are hard to digest.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
