I thought I was dying until the 3rd day. . . my husband wouldn't even leave the hospital because I was in so much pain. They gave me morphine so hang in there. It gets better. Walking helped alot! I walked all the time!

All those gurgling sounds are typical. Try a heating pad on your belly.

Give it time. The worst of it is the first few days until that gas works itself out of your system. Until then, pain meds!

Also, walk as much as you can! I stayed off work for a week and spent the majority of the time on the couch but made sure to get up and walk around the coffee table at every commercial break. Walking helps work that gas out of your body. It goes away and like Katie713 said, pain meds! They're a wonderful thing!

Gurgling is normal, and get used to it. It's probably there to stay.

The gas pains - there's not much you can do. Walking around helps, as does heat. Have them bring you a heating pad or hot blankets and try draping them around you. You can also try laying on your left side with your right knee pulled up as close to your chest as you can get it. Pain meds may or may not help - they never did much for my pain, possibly because it's a direct nerve thing.

I didn't have nearly as much pain as you, just a few hours' worth. The evening of my surgery I was restless and doing laps & laps around the wing - so to answer your question, most of my pain was gone by late afternoon (surgery was 9am).

Walk all you can, just a slow ramble is fine...if u hurt really bad get someone to walk with you so you can out your head on their shoulder and just scoot along.

Consider asking for liquid hydrocodone - it helped me the most.

Take your pain meds! And walk! That's the two things that help the most. The pain meds are given to you for a reason and walking will help all that gas work it's way out of your system. I hope you feel better soon! :)

I agree. Make sure you get your pain meds. Don't suffer needlessly. With the gas, get up and walk if you can as that supposedly helps to get rid of the gas in your body.

The gurgling noises? I'm 7 weeks out and still have them. My husband says that my belly sounds like a bucolic symphony at night. LOL

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
