AmyL 1 Posted May 8, 2012 I am 4 weeks out tomorrow & asked if I could take Motrin & they told me it could cause an ulcer----it is amazing all the different opinions from the surgeons!!! I forgot to ask when I could have it....hence, the post. Thx!! Congrats on being a week out!
BenisaMartim4 369 Posted May 8, 2012 Hmm, my doc told me that I could never take NSAIDs again. He said that our risk of bleeding was too great. Sent from my iPad using VST
BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted May 8, 2012 Definitely varies with surgeons... One thing most agree on is to stop taking Aspirin, motrin, advil and any NSAIDs two weeks before the surgery because they all act as blood thinners (well kind of). They are associated with Ulcers but some surgeons feel comfortable prescribing it. One thing that I have seen is often prescribed is acetaminophen/tylenol or medicines that contain that because the mechanism is different from NSAIDs. You should definitely ask your doctor because they will have a good history about your health and can give you their professional opinion.
smileen 17 Posted May 8, 2012 my dr. said no aspirin, advil, or aleve because can cause stomach problems. I miss advil only thing that helps headaches and my daily baby aspirin to keep away problems? I too would like to know when we can take it.
cassieh 136 Posted May 8, 2012 I was told no motrin or ibuprofen of any kind. It was on my list of medicines not to take.
