Someone finally noticed!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I always thought that everyone paid a lot of attention to how fat I was. I have lost 52lbs and yesterday is the first time someone asked me if I had lost any weight. People that know about my surgery are always commenting on my looks, but never anyone else. I was beginning to think no one would ever notice and it was really getting me down. I feel as if I have cleared a big obsticle. I know this is probably petty of me but it sure did feel good for someone to notice. I went to the store today and another person noticed.:clap2:

I think this just goes to show that people really don't pay that much attention to each other. I always felt as if I stuck out in a crowd because of my weight, and now I wonder if they ever noticed me that much. I think their stares were more in my head than in reality.

Jana,

That is so great! It am sure it is so nice to get compliments from people who don't know about your surgery.

Just to make you feel a bit better, My sponsor told me that people didn't notice that she had been losing weight until she had lost over 70 lbs.

Grats on your NSV!!!!!!!!

:)

I just love that, too. Those that I actually work with don't really say much (at my request), but there are lots of people that come in and out occasionally, and they are starting to notice. I had to lose over 40 lbs for it to happen, though. I think you are right. People just have a general concept of our shape and don't notice the details (like having a waist!) like we do.:)

I have lost 44 pounds now and people are just now starting to comment. It feels wonderful!! MY SIL actually said she didn't recognize me walking up to her with my DH at the fair a few weeks ago! WooHooo!

2 of my colleagues (the ones who know about the surgery) and I actually have an office pool going as to which of my other (10 or so) colleagues will say something first. I think people notice before they're actually willing to say something; weight being such a sensitive issue and all. At least I hope that's the reason they haven't said anything and not that they haven't noticed!

Congratulations Jlogantx!

Congratulations on getting noticed. It's a great motivator when people start commenting.

My highest weight was 440 and when I was down about 95 pounds, one person approached me and asked if I lost weight. This time, I started at 351 and am down to 302. So far, nobody has said anything and I only told 2 people. I figure at about 80 pounds down people will notice.

I stopped in at my bank to get into my safe deposit box, and the woman who helped me hadn't seen me for awhile. She mentioned that I had lost some weight and that it was really noticeable. I thanked her and she asked what I was doingto lose, and I told her about the band. It feels WONDERFUL to have someone notice, and really reaffirms my commitment to follow the rules. I don't think it's petty, and I plan to enjoy every compliment to the max! Congratulations!!!

Emily

There are two kinds of people who lose weight: those who want other people to notice and those who don't. However, there seem to be a lot more people in column A than column B! In fact, I think there are only three of us in column B: me, myself, and I. LOL!

If it gives you warm fuzzies to have people notice, then that's awesome. I know you'll get lots and lots of positive comments as the weight comes off. For my part, I'm way too self concious to like it when people comment on my weight loss. It feels weird to know that there are people looking at my body and evaluating. And I can't help but think that if they've noticed I'm on the way down, they sure as hell noticed when I was on the way up. I guess I was the only one who was "surprised" to find out how much I really weighed before surgery.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
