I'm a little leery of this, since a lot of folks have said this is the hardest part. Plus, tomorrow I have 2 tests that require food-and-drink fasting, so after my first day of 600-900 cals I go without food and Water for 14 hours, then quick squeak in a shake before fasting for another 6 hours. Kinda tough. Going to make it, though! :-)

You know what, though? Making it through the pre-op diet will really give you a good feeling of accomplishment. Think of it as your last "diet" without the help of the sleeve.

You'll do great! The first few days are the toughest, then it gets easier.

How long are you on the pre-op diet?

I went through the same thing last week! I had to fast all day Tuesday for pre-op testing and then the next day go straight to the 2 week liquid diet. It is hard but you can do it! I have had minimal issues; the only thing that I have really wanted or missed is salad, which I did give in one day and have. But hey, I ain’t perfect <_< ! My diet consist of Opti-fast, which is four shakes, a Protein Bar, and a pack of Soup. The food taste pretty decent. Also be sure to try variety! I know on my diet I can also have sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles, so I am going to pick that up today! You can do this, trust me! When is your surgery date???

I had all the pre-op stuff done. I had an upper GI Saturday and my tummy is still sore. Last week I was given the Meal Replacements, Wed. I will get the spirometer to take to the hospital and I'm just waiting on the surgery date, which I get on Thursday. I got a variety of shakes, pudding & Soup, I was given enough to last 14 days. I was told we get only a choice of three per day, plus liquids. I hear everyone say two weeks, but I see such discrepancy in days, two weeks are 10 days for some and 14 for others, I'm sincerely hoping it's only 10 days because i want the surgery in May not June. The wait until this Thursday to find out the surgery day is the longest part of this almost 7 month ordeal lol.

Thanks, all - today is Day 1 of 14, with my surgery on May 21. I'm very excited! I get 4-5 Bariatric Advantage shakes + other clear and sugar free liquids (Jello, popsicles, too). My last unsleeved diet, a great way to look at it.

I'm wondering how I'm going to feel about working out these next two weeks before surgery. I'm going to miss my pole dance classes while I'm recuperating, I hope I'm up for it while I'm pre-op, but a lot of folks have mentioned being really weak. I probably can throw another Protein shake in if I'm exerting myself in class - extra Protein shouldn't be too bad. I'll talk to the nutritionist.

I have exercised everyday on the Pre-op except yesterday. I will warn you, u may feel a little weak but just thrown in another shake or a small salad, and you will be fine. Since I am not sure when I will be cleared to exercise again, I refuse to stop! lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
