Cardiologist Appt. Tomorrow, Is It Safe To Assume

Recommended Posts

Is it safe to assume that he will order additional tests such as a stress test? It seems as though I hear of other pre sleevers having to have additional tests per the cardiologists request. I am hoping that It'll be another appointment to check off my to do list, not add to it! I'm so close to having everything done and I am getting pretty darn happy about that!

I was lucky I did not have to have a stress test my EKG was very good so she signed me off as it was safe to have the surgery. Bit she did say that most have to have a stress test.

I was a lucky one too; no stress test was ordered for me. Although, I have to laugh, the cardiologist was SO VERY HANDSOME that I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest. I kept thinking he was going to get such awful readings, they'd have to admit me - LOL! Seriously, I don't usually get that way, but he was SO VERY HANDSOME. My goodness!! Good luck!

Nancy, I had one doctor like that, too. I was really glad the girl took my BP before he walked into the room. I'm not normally into Indian men, but this guy was a cross between Elvis and Johnny Depp. YUMMY!!! He's also the doctor who was supposed to put in my filter. I was kind of glad they switched docs on that at the last minute! :)

At your pre-op they will run an EKG and see what it shows. If it is abnormal, they will probably send you to the cardiologist to see what is doing with it. It might mean more appointments, but better that then not making it off the table during surgery, that is for sure. Best of luck with your pre-op. I hope it all goes well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
