Hi Ausmith! 12 months already for u that is awesome. How has ur journey been?

I'm doing well. We had our first full IVF try last month but I lost it after a week. But that's ok. We're trying again in November.

Well this last week I have put on 1.5kgs but I don't know why. But I'll get it off again ????

I think everyone has finally got their lives back and that's why it's so quiet on here. It's great that we have busy lives, but yeah it would be great to hear from everyone from time to time

Cheers Bec

Great to hear from you Bec. All great here, anniversary tomorrow and I'm 2kg off goal which is still a fantastic effort. My husband has been at goal for about 3 mths and has actually gone under by about 5kg. So hopefully his will settle down soon and hopefully I get these last 2 off in the next month. I'm considering trying to lose an extra 5 and then I will be at 60kg and then I'll have a good buffer for over the holiday season.

Good Luck with the IVF you have put yourself in the very best position in regards to health to make it happen for you guys. Good Luck and let us know how you go. Hoping the others will drop in from time to time so we can hear how they are going. Don't worry about the extra weight I'm sure it must be hormones from the IVF. Take care

Hi all - been missing myself for over 12 months good to see some familiar names still around.

I pulled out of my surgery one week out in June of last year. Since then have attempted once more with another surgeon and just can't get through that pre-diet. It does awful things to my motivation.

I have made an appointment to see my original surgeon on the Gold Coast again (my family and I have since moved home to Gladstone to be closer to our businesses). I just hope that I can get my way through this time. I know I need this tool to get me where I need to be for my wife, my daughter and I.

Brendan I remember your terrible struggle last year. I was just researching at the time and had surgery in the Oct. Both myself and my husband had surgery on the same day. Not sure if it helps but men lose a lot faster and a lot easier than women, so if you can get through the pre diet nothing will stop you achieving your goal. My husband lost over 50kg in the first 8 months with very little exercise. I on the other hand have taken a year to get to goal also have lost 50kg but it has def been worth it. Even if you have to lock yourself in a room and sleep for 2 weeks before surgery. DO it you will never regret it and I think we all know without the surgery it is impossible to lose it AND keep it off. Let us know how you go

Hi Brendani

not all surgeons require a pre op diet mine in Perth didn't all i had was one day on clear fluids before surgery so if this is whats holding you back may be check out other Baratic surgeons in you area

Great to hear from you again!! I was wondering how you were going. I hope you can work through the pre op. It is hard but once you get past the first 4 days you feel better. But maybe check with other surgeons that don't require you to do a pre op. Good luck with your journey and I hope you work out the best optionfor yourself. We're all still here for you

Cheers Bec

Hi

I knew straight away from my first appointment with the clinic nurse that this is what I needed to do if I wanted to lose weight permanently. I booked to see the surgeon, psych and dietician the very next day (this saved me a 5 hr drive for each appointment) and was operated on 12 days later! Which was 8 days ago ????

Hi no there was about 6 weeks from first contact until surgery. We were covered by private insurance so I'm not sure if that made any difference. We did have 1 nutritionalist appointment and 2 psychologist appointments in those 6 weeks that were required. Also blood test

Yeah it does depend on ur surgeon. Plus I knew everything about the surgery and why I wanted and needed it. So Dr Daoud said I was in the right frame of mind.

Which surgeon are u going with?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
