Just went through my clothes and getting rid of about 3/4 of them because they don't fit! Here is a photo of me in my exxy bather top from Sunburn that I am embarrassed to say I was wearing 20 kg ago. It fits properly now!

I have never lost hair but then I'm not achieving the amazing weight loss rates that some on this thread are. I lost 20 kg really quickly (over 2 months) and since then it's been a trickle down, occasional regain for another 2 kg over around 3 months. I have another 10kg to lose. I seem to need to eat less than 800 cal to actually lose weight - I rarely eat more than 1100 and mostly in the 800 to 900 range.

I think my thyroid is "off" again - my hair (and there's lots of it) is so dry it could snap, my skin is dry and my concentration, insomnia and fatigue is shocking. I'm doing a coursework Masters at present and really noticing it. Shall get to the doc in a few weeks when I have time (I know, daft to wait).

Have to confess though, I'm sitting here having a little glass of wine and enjoying a study break.

Oh dear, the words "own worst enemy" are going through my mind.

Susan, it would be worth getting some blood tests done as you may be Iron deficient. I am like you in that I need to keep my calories around 800 per day to keep losing weight now I am closer to goal and yet I am also my own worst enemy having too frequent little treats. I have found having only 500 calories n 2 consecutive days per week as suggested by my dietician definitely works. Maybe that would help you too?

Happy Sleeversary to me :) I can't believe that it has been 12 months since I had the surgery. For those of you who don't know me (for which there would be few on this thread) here are my stats: Starting weight was 173kg and my current weight is 87kg. Before surgery I hadn't slept lying down in a bed (comfortably) in over 7 years. I had chronic asthma, everything hurt all of the time (although I denied it back then) and it was just a struggle to move around.

I had the surgery on September 3 2012. Things went badly. I got a leak. It took several surgeries and many months in ICU/ Surgical Ward before I could get the all clear to leave. That was November 2012. I didn't go back to work full time until the end of January 2013.

Since then, well heck, things have just been getting better and better. The weight loss has been amazing. I've lost 86 kg - so tantalisingly close to half way lol. No fudging though - pesky 0.5kg :) The NSV's have been even better - the CLOTHES, shoes, movement, I am a "runner" now (on week 3 of the Couch to 5 K and am running in a 5K obstacle course at the end of the year), energy, clarity in thinking, enjoyment in life, exciting opportunities, flying without the embarrassment of asking for an extension seat belt, people looking you in the eye, not being "invisible" anymore, shop assistants are helpful and attentive, men FLIRT (okay, so maybe I do too - just a little), I've had a significant promotion, looking to travel OS next year, am planning for a future THAT I WANT not just settling for what I think I can have.

It has been a truly amazing journey. I love you all - you have become friends to me even though (with the exception of Kelli) I've never met you in person. You've understood my struggles and triumphs in ways that my family and friends here struggle to do. I can't thank you all enough for your kindness, encouragement and support. And I promise that I WILL get around to meeting you :) **Wow, hope that doesn't sound stalker-ish...Deano, you're the copper - is that a bit creepy lol**. Before I finish my rambling post, here are some comparison shots that I put together. Thank you all for sharing my journey and helping me out so profoundly along the way. Much love to you all! So so so happy!!!!! I have now lost my first 25.1kgs!!! That is since 20th May (start of pre op) doing the happy dance

Oh and I'm down 10 BMI points

My hair thinned at about the 3-6 month mark, but it stops after a while. It seems many of us have experienced this and it's nothing to worry about. My hair is as thick now as it used to be.

Great to know! I'm at 10 weeks post-op and it's falling out like crazy. Fortunately I have really thick hair, but not for long at this rate.

What a transformation! You deserve all the praise in the world because you really committed to this journey and look at you now! What an achievement!

Hi all <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I had heaps of hair fall out too but it grows back!! Just get into a good hairdresser is my advice particularly if it's bad. Luckily my cousin is my hairdresser so got loads of samples etc until I hit on the thing for me <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Things are going pretty well at the moment. Losing about a kg per week right now and am just finishing week 4 of Couch to 5K. Am very seriously considering a treadmill though as it is going to be a long hot summer out here I think!! Plus I sometimes would like to run at night and could do that if I had a treddy.

It's funny though' date=' the more weight I lose, the further I drop my goal weight. Has anyone else experienced this? It's like I perpetually have 10 kg to lose lol. My friend said to me the other day to be aware that losing weight has been such a focus for so long that I need to consider I am adjusting the goal cause I don't know any other way of thinking.

It got me really considering this point of view- now whilst I still think I have at least 10kg more that I would like to lose, I really am enjoying the weight loss process right now and getting fit. It will be a whole new challenge to maintain my weight and though I have had a lifetime of trying to lose I have never had to keep healthy at a particular weight. Funny how just when you think you've got the sleeve worked out how it throws another curve ball <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

But honestly what a great bloody problem to have!! God I love my sleeve!!

It's great that your weight is coming off at a steady level. I know what you mean about moving you goal, my surgeon's goal for me was 65 but in my own mind that just seemed like an unattainable dream so I started of saying to my self "if I get to the low 70s I will be happy". Then when I did get to there it became "if I get to 69 I will be happy as I will be in the healthy BMI" , then I got there and I thought "wouldn't it be nice to get to my surgeons goal!" then I got there and I thought "would it be nice to be 62 - the weight I was when I was 18!" - thank goodness like Misty said I got to 60 and I have just stopped! I actually can drop a couple of kilos if I stop eating the food I still 'consider 'bad foods' I.e. crap but I am truly happy where I am at and don't want to be any thinner! It is a bit of an adjustment when you get to that point but it just take time.

I am finding now I can eat a lot more food in one sitting - for example I can eat a whole egg mayo sandwich (it does take me about half an hour) where in the early days I could not have even eaten bread, but I am also finding that I am naturally moving away from eating between meals as I don't need to any more because I can eat more during a meal. So I guess things are still changing - I have to admit I still have this fear of putting all the weight back on again which I never thought about until I got to maintenance!

I know it is a pain to get to the doctor when you have a lot on your plate and we are all our own worst enemies - you are not alone! Try and get to the doctor for more bloods as soon as you can - I felt exactly the same but mine - like Kelli's - was Iron. It can really impact your quality of life and I truly thought I was the odd one out as I didn't feel as fantastic physically as I should have with the weight loss. Now I am taking the Iron I fell much stronger and normal. I believe if your body is under stress it will try and hold onto your weight - when you think about it it is a natural defence as body is trying to keep reserves to protect it's self - just my theory, nothing scientific -sorry if it sounds a bit new age!

What did/do u guys do to deal with the dreaded head hunger. I know I am not hungry, but I still want to eat all the time! Need some help with this one....

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
