Helmc2 108 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi All' date=' I think I have introduced myself before - possibly when I got my surgery date in Feb 13. Now I'm 3 weeks from beginning my pre op diet and 5 weeks from the big day! Super excited and annoyed my husband terribly with my counting down the days haha Have just finished puréeing bean/lentil and vegetable Soup for purée phase which starts at day 3-5 after op. Most of what I've read had people on liquids for a few weeks first? I'm having surgery at QE11 with Dr Justin Greenslade. Yay! Oh and I've been stalking this thread for ages haha but nowhere near read all 4500 posts! Lol Donna xo[/quote'] Hi Donna! I did liquids for 11 days and then on to purée/mushy food. I'm on it til Tuesday and then on to normal food. Each doctor is different in their plans and what they want u to eat when. Just listen to ur surgeon and u will b fine. Good luck
Helmc2 108 Posted August 13, 2013 Omg! lunch did not sit well today. Ate too much and way too fast. Needless to say after having the dreaded slimes for 20 mins, lunch decided to leave. Holy moley. Feel heaps better now though!
kelliv 659 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi guys - I haven't posted in here for so long and I'm so out of touch' date=' but I hope everyone is doing really well. I just wanted to share a "benefit" of losing my 30kg - I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer and if I hadn't lost the weight I wouldn't have found the lump and gone for testing. So for me, having my sleeve done has paid off big time! Another reason why I'm so glad I did it!![/quote'] Sue I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis and thank goodness it was found hopefully early enough to be effectively treated. Good luck from now on. You have given yourself the best possible chance by improving your health. 1 SueSue reacted to this

We don't mind at all and look forward to you sharing your experience with us. Don't hesitate to ask plenty of questions as someone on here will usually have an answer. I was done by Dr.Copp who used to work from your docs rooms. I was on liquid for one week post op, then puree for 2 weeks and soft food for 1 week. It tends to vary depending on which dietician you use. I sam 12 months post op tomorrow and still see my dietician at Wesley, Diane Barr and she is great. Good luck with your pre-op preparation. Don't beat yourself up too much. It's all part of the learning process. 1 Helmc2 reacted to this

kelliv 659 Posted August 13, 2013 Well tomorrow is my 12 month sleeve anniversary. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I started at 107kg and am now 74kg. BMI was 41 and now is 27. Was size 18-20, but now 12-14. No longer have sleep apnea or need to sleep with a CPAP machine and far less likely to develop diabetes. Still have a few kilos to go to get to my personal goal of 68kg, but feeling positive and looking forward to working on maintenance plan. For anyone contemplating the sleeve as a surgery option I only have positive things to say about it and hope it becomes more widely used in future. 4 lessismore67, *Dean*, tashk and 1 other reacted to this

Helmc2 108 Posted August 13, 2013 Can you please tell me what 'slimes' are? I don't think I want to know lol but I'm sure I want to be prepared! Cheers Donna Basically if u eat too fast or too much (like I did today) you get this horrible yuck feeling and lots of excess saliva in ur mouth. (And I mean lots!) it is disgusting. I'm only 3 weeks out and am learning very quickly! I know my problem today was I ate too fast. My lunch was so yummy I had downed 3 bites before I even realised what I was doing!!! I then tried to slow down and chew properly, but too late! Lesson learned the hard way. Never again!!! 2 one_elle26 and kelliv reacted to this

It's it great that you were able to detect the lump without the excess 30kg being in the way. That sure is a benefit!
