kelliv 659 Posted May 11, 2013 Thanks Kelli and Shell' date=' I know I've made the right decision just freaked out when I heard that. Made me also realise I won't be sharing my news until after my surgery. The negativity messes with me so it's easier to keep things quiet for now. So glad I found this forum [/quote'] Great idea. I have found this thread to be such a great support and continue to do so 9 months post op. Also it means I am not boring my friends and family constantly re y sleeve journey. We are here to support the newbies as much as possible and between all of us we have experienced just about everything to do with getting a sleeve. 4 Lissa_S, lessismore67, one_elle26 and 1 other reacted to this
sueoco 509 Posted May 11, 2013 Hi Brendan' date=' ahh Gold Coast would be a different lifestyle from here. I too have some apprehension to getting sleeved. I was doing ok til I told someone ( other than my best friend) and she was like yeah I heard you will lose weight but someone she knew had it done and she has lots of issues with reflux/burping and making these heaving noises when she eats or drinks. This poor girl no longer eats or drinks in public as the noises make others around her nauseous, That terrifies me. Anyone else heard of anyone being like this?[/quote'] I agree with Shell and Kelli - in the beginning I did get some gurgling but nothing that could be heard by anyone else. Sometimes if you eat too fast you might get a bit of burping but as time goes by you learn not to eat too fast. I am on Nexium for stomach acid/reflux. I am going to see if I can come off them but if I still get discomfort I will just stay on them. I am totally happy with that as it is small thing to take a small tablet each day compared to the cocktail of medications I might have ended up on if I hadn't had the sleeve and lost the weight! 5 lessismore67, kelliv, *Shell* and 2 others reacted to this
lessismore67 158 Posted May 11, 2013 Thanks for your response. I hope you didn't think I was having a crack at you' date=' only that I was concerned that there was such a huge risk of medical complications for puppyphat if she has/is developing an eating disorder. And I also don't want anyone to think I am diagnoising based on a post on a forum - I just wanted to highlight how potentially serious this can be and it's a cautionary tale for all of us! But please don't think that I was dismissing your suggestion or having a go at you in any way! I also won't talk about this matter anymore on the public thread as I regretted posting it on the forum and not PMing it to puppyphat directly. I would hate for puppyphat to feel she can't talk freely or openly on this forum or for my comments to (in any way) cause more distress. With regards to your query about transfer addiction, it possibly is but it is best to have a consultation with a clinical psychologist as it is such a complicated matter. Cheers, Liss[/quote'] Gosh no Liss! I didn't take your comment in a bad way at all! I thought your post was really important especially given some of the threads I have come across overseas. You are so lovely and supportive and I enjoy reading your threads every time you post. Actually, *everyone* on this aussie forum is great 4 one_elle26, sueoco, *Shell* and 1 other reacted to this

mistysj 1,940 Posted May 12, 2013 I don't mind where we eat. There is a nice place on George Street called Ben's Alibi but they have really big portions. There is also a new Japanese place where Ajisen used to be but I haven't tried it. I do need to go to Medicare today though so at some point I need to be down at Queen Street anyway. That's the only Medicare office I know of in the CBD. Just txt me if there is a change of plans ni can't wait to meet you guys, but hope Shell feels better soon. My husband took me out for Indian food last night. Really nice. This morning he is making me pancakes and bacon. I think this is how he shows love. LOL Also I think there is an edge of fear that I may never eat normally again. I don't have that fear but I think maybe he does. Today is my last day of work. It feels surreal.
