Attention ! Australian Sleevers

I have a bit of loose skin on my upper arms and lower belly but two years out I notice that it's still improving. I won't ever have a flat belly unless I have surgery but honestly, Spanx are amazing and I really hate the idea of more surgery :)

Hi new faces and old. Been a while since I last posted also. Two false starts in the past 18 months where I wasn't ready and cancelled my op midway through the pre-surgery diet. Well, I'm further in than I have before. 7 days on KicStart and I'm down 3.5kg. Sleeve day is next Wednesday 4th March at Pindara Private on the GC. NO TURNING BACK!!!

Haha ausmith it's almost like you know me too well. Job's done.

Lost 6.7kg in my pre-op, almost got cancelled as I was chewing gum during my fast on Wednesday morning, but as Dr Nolan keeps telling me "I took a lot of stomach out of you". Back at my hotel room since this morning and doing pretty well.

That's fantastic ! I'm so happy for you I'm almost 18mths ahead of you but I remember going through the up's and downs with you while reading about the war you were going through with yourself. Then when you decided not to get it I was so sad for you. Then as I started to lose I kept thinking if only you could have seen the new you at that time there would have been no delay. Good Luck, stick to the rules and drop in here for support still a lot of work to go but you can definitely do this.

Hi There

Whilst this is a fantastic site with bazillions of fabulous people, there is also an australian site called gastric sleeve support dot com dot au. There are brilliant people there who arrange meet ups and offer support. This site has great info and support and the Australian one is probably better for finding out about surgeons and hospitals in Oz.

Good luck with your journey!

That site does not work, does it still exist?

There's no .au on the end. It definitely exists.

I also recommend bandingtogether.com.au - there is a sleever section.

Finally have my sleeve date!! 26/05/15 for me. Have been waiting for this day for almost 12 months so to say I'm excited is an understatement. I've poured over so much information and feel I have a pretty solid understanding of everything. My only question is and Im hoping someone can offer me some feedback, but with one month till my sleeve date is there anything I can start doing now to prepare myself? Im already taking silica and Biotin in the help that it might help the issue of losing my hair (however I'm not overly hopeful with that). Is there anything else you can suggest? Anything you know now that you wish you'd known before you got sleeved?

Any hints or ideas would be appreciated.

Be careful taking the Biotin as I have heard that it didn't help with head Hair loss but seemed to increase body hair. The 2 most important things that I can suggest is for after the opp, plenty of Protein and plenty of Fluid. They will be the 2 things that will give you energy to keep moving forward in the first few weeks. Don't let yourself get dehydrated. Good Luck

Greetings all..

I'm just on three months post surgery.

I'm in/near Canberra.

Not sure what else to put except that I'm pretty open with my surgery.

I've not kept it a secret or anything like that.

Happy to compare notes or answer questions...

Hi everyone!

I have been reading this forum for weeks now just going through all the history and everyone's experiences and success. My surgery is booked for 04/08/15 and im so excited and scared. I have been doing opti fast for 4 weeks so far (2 opti 1 meal of lean meat & veg) and still have 7 more weeks, then i have to replace my one meal with opti! its been killing me but i know its going to be worth it.

i also had to quit smoking when i started opti... i have a lot of support around me but i don't have anyone who can relate to how im feeling and how hard the struggle can be....

im currently looking for advise on what i should have in my hospital bag? Also on multi Vitamins and other Vitamins i should prepare?

thanks

p.s congratulations to you all! this is much harder than i thought it would be!

Hi you should probably start with a Multi Vitamin I was told to use the Swiss women's Multi. After you have blood test's the dietitian will advise you what else you need to take if anything. Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
