So much bourbon. I must have had three doubles. I will regret this in the morning! LOL

Misty, i have never been a big drinker, but now I just can't handle it. Tastes a bit odd now and i can usually only get through about half a glass of red wine before dinner. The other night over the course of about 5 hours I was at a function for work and had 2 gin and tonics, a pina colada and a glass of red wine. I was so crook yesterday. It really knocked me around and still is 2 days later, so I won't be doing that again in a hurry. Apart from the fact it was a waste of calories! All this Christmas partying and entertaining is exhausting!

The hangover was not the worst but I was feeling rough until lunch time. I just kept drinking Water. Anyway it is definitely not something I plan on doing often.

I'm actually at Changi now flying home!

Hey guys,

I'm 6 days post op and things have been progressing well. No pain or nausea and have been a bit more successful in getting the fluids in today......however....the head hunger is driving me crazy. Only really started yesterday and it feels like my every waking moment is thoughts about food...not unhealthy food or takeaway, but food I want to eat during puréed or soft! I cringe at the thought of liquids. So I did something stupid, I thought I could chew on some potato and fish a then spit it out rather than swallow...went ok until I swallowed a small amount and I was let know pretty quickly how silly it was to think I could do more than liquids....how has everybody combated the head hunger? Do I fight to ignore or try to embrace it somehow?

Congrats on your surgery spudsy! I'm 11 days out now and I've done the exact same thing as u, I sucked the guts out of some grapes and spat the rest in the bin. The only thing that's ever work for head hunger and me is keeping busy . I've been craving salad and Ham, toast with vegiemite I can't wait till I go on soft foods. When did everyone else move to this stage?

Sorry to hear of your challenge with head hunger. I was on fluids for one week, puree for 2 weeks and soft for one week, then pretty much whatever I felt comfortable with after that. I don't think head hunger was too much of an issue in the early days as I knew I couldn't have it and was quite excited about that. I did think about food a lot and continued to watching cooking shows on Foxtel plus cook for the family but wasn't tempted to try as I new it would hurt. I think it's perfectly normal. Maybe have fluids with more flavour that will satisfy your hunger such as Soups and low fat milk shakes. Good luck

From memory I was on liquids for 2 weeks, then purée for 2 weeks then I could go to solid food. I don't remember having the head hunger although I was looking forward to food by the time the 4 weeks was over and then I could eat about 2 teaspoons!

I was pretty food obsessed but I wasn't actually hungry. You can have some splurges when you are on liquids (ice pops) and purée (ice cream, cream cheese) since you don't have much at all. I was just so ready to have some salty foods and that was my main struggle.

I'm back from India and today we are on a boat at Tangaluma for my husband's company Christmas party. I just went for a swim and I'm drying off. He is snorkeling. I feel so much more confident this year in a suit!

Thanks Sue and the same to you! I keep thinking this is the first year where "deal with my weight" doesn't have to top my New Years resolutions!

Last-minute Christmas shopping today and shopping for a New Years party frock. I already went for my run even though it is bloody hot already!

Lissa you look lovely! I absolutely love your hair!

I shopped all day today. Well, after I ran for 50 minutes in the bloody heat this morning that is. I had to do most of my Christmas shopping. I also needed to get a frock for New Year's Eve at the Brisbane Jazz Club. Remember last year I wore that red dress from Autograph? I posted an "after" photo a while ago showing that the dress was falling off. It was size 20 and fit great last NYE.

Well I tried on heaps of dresses at MYER today and they all looked great! The ones that didn't, it wasn't because of the size but because it just didn't work for me. Shopping was fun and exciting. I didn't cry or have a crisis in the fitting room. I had to go back for smaller sizes! The dresses that fit were in a range of size 10 to 14 but mostly 12s. Woohoo!

I ended up getting a 1950s style frock from Dangerfield, a line of vintage stuff including rockabilly, Lolita, swing, and other styles. In size 12! I will post a photo after I get ready on NYE because it is fab! And it was $108! When I was obese I would pay twice that just to get something that fit.

I keep realizing that I don't have to put weight loss on my resolution list this year. Or exercise. My life has changed so much.

I haven't seen some family since before my op and will be seeing them at Christmas. I can't wait and I'm nervous too!

Misty I can't wait to see your new dress. You have done so well this year and I am very impressed with your commitment to exercise.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
