Dons2.0 39 Posted August 13, 2013 Well tomorrow is my 12 month sleeve anniversary. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I started at 107kg and am now 74kg. BMI was 41 and now is 27. Was size 18-20' date=' but now 12-14. No longer have sleep apnea or need to sleep with a CPAP machine and far less likely to develop diabetes. Still have a few kilos to go to get to my personal goal of 68kg, but feeling positive and looking forward to working on maintenance plan. For anyone contemplating the sleeve as a surgery option I only have positive things to say about it and hope it becomes more widely used in future.[/quote'] Happy 1 year! I can't wait to be a size 12-14! Lol well done! Xo

It was so great to finally meet Lissa this morning ironically when we were both visiting Melbourne. We have shared so much in the past year and it was wonderful to look back on our journey and talk about the positive changes we have both made. Lissa, you look fabulous and unrecognisable from your before photo. Keep up the great work and I loom forward to seeing you on the Gold Coast in October. 3 mistysj, Lissa_S and Helmc2 reacted to this
lessismore67 158 Posted August 14, 2013 Hi ' date=' thank you for the heads up I have allowed a few extra for the unexpected things. I do fortunately work for a pathology company so I am bulked billed for any blood tests I may need lucky me, because I've already had 4 lots if bloods done, with I'm sure, many more to come!!! Blood test are expensive! I never realised just how expensive they are until I became a pathology collector! What other test test did you have done that cost you extra money? (If you don't mind me asking) I also am in a health fund so I'm only using a smallish portion of my super to cover the rest![/quote'] I don't mind at all Nikki.Ask away! Sorry for my slow reply-the forum site crashed (again).I had heaps of blood tests, an endoscopy, a barium swallow, tummy xray and an oesophageal manometry (swallow test for the muscles).Nearly had an ecg as well. This is *not* standard preop screening for the sleeve.I have another health issue that Dr Mosse wanted to make sure wasn't going to impact the safety of the surgery. I am glad you won't have to pay for blood tests.I am still getting bills from the hospital for them now! Post-op I ended up in hospital overnight last week and I am waiting for the abdominal contrast ct scan bill to arrive Overall I have spent about $9,000 out of pocket and originally budgeted for $7,000. Helmc2 108 Posted August 15, 2013 Hi everyone. Hope u r all having a fantastic week. I have a question for you all, or rather a weird fact. Pre op I could NOT STAND cooking. So much so that most nights my sons and I would eat at my parents house - my mother is an amazing cook! So today I find myself pouring over recipes. Then I actually jump in the car and head to Coles. Before u know it I have cooked up 3 different meals, fed the family, frozen meals in portion sizes for me and am now contemplating what I am going to cook tomorrow! What is wrong with me? I'm not understanding this whole wanting to cook thing? Anyone else heard of or experienced this? I'm finding it quite strange. Pleasant but strange!

Maybe it's just a new awareness of food and how important it is to be selective about what we eat as the best possible fuel for our bodies. Cooking is fun so good on you. I am sure your family will appreciate your efforts too! 3 one_elle26, Helmc2 and lessismore67 reacted to this

So not unusual...it is called food porn...we seem to get more attracted to it when we loose our stomach. I sometimes wonder whether it is part of a mourning process and finding a new way to deal with food or our relationship to food. Post op I watched sooo many food cooking shows, read the magazines etc it was not funny. I cook all the time, most of it gets given away or frozen for a later date. 5 Bec101, lessismore67, Helmc2 and 2 others reacted to this
