I have been thinking about this '3 week stall' - I think it is tied in with the bodies ability to only go with out food for 3 weeks! Maybe it is the bodies last ditch effort to hold on to that last bit of weight before you truly go into starvation mode - lets face it, the amount of calories we are consuming around this time truly is at starvation levels! Just one of my thoughts but hey, I am no doctor!

That makes good sense to me Sue.My body temp has dropped to 35 degC so my metabolic rate must be slowing down to compensate for the very low calorie intake.Hubby says I am cold to touch and has nicknamed me zombie wife.

I am so gooood at storing fat.Camella - I have only lost 2kg in 10 days :(

"Stores calories very efficiently".Can't put that on a CV unfortunately.Lol! But it does justify my decision to ask for medical help for my obesity. No wonder I have struggled over the years.

Get your thyroid checked... "cold to touch" sounds a bit iffy to me.

The extreme cold will pass. I was miserably cold the first three weeks but then it stabilized. I'm still not as hot-natured as I was and I'm more likely to grab a jumper now, but I don't go around shivering either. Also 2 kg in 10 days is great. Picture 2 kg of butter. It is rather amazing actually.

I'm off today and finishing up laundry, and reading about Agile development (a software industry thing). I have a follow-up with my surgeon this afternoon. I think he will be pleased.

I am always cold but I think I am getting a bit better - I think mine was to do with low Iron but I am cold to touch too a lot of the time - my husband puts it down to less insulation now!! :-)

Just add up 2kg every 10 days and then think of the end of year! It all adds up! My best weight loss was only 2kg in 7 days and I have lost 43kg all up and I am 5kg below the goal that my surgeon set me so don't worry you are doing great!

Thanks Susan-you are on the right track.Yes, I am being (and have been) monitored closely for thyroid problems.Every health professional I see always says I actually physically look like I should have a thyroid problem but the blood tests are ok to date.It was the first thing Dr Mosse screened before the surgery and he says he will keep a close eye on it.

I made more of my fish cakes today, this time with salmon. So good. A small can makes 4. I am craving fish. DH is taking me for sashimi for dinner too.

Misty, Agile development sounds fun:) Being a BA myself, we are having a great "uh-hum" time transitioning to Agile requirement documentation and development. Enjoy your reading, what are you reading?

I tend to agree, Sue, you are onto something with the 3 week stall. I can barely think of anyone who hasnt had the 3 week stall

Carmella, stay strong it will pass soon, and you will be back on a loosing streak.

Lessismore...good luck, think I am a bit late but hope the surgery went well.

Lissa, day 1 and I am failing...last minute travel put a spanner in my works, seeing as I am on a 7 am flight and wont be on a flight home til 7pm, wont get the work out in today and am eatting on the run...eeeek

The book is called Essential Scrum, by Kenneth S. Rubin. Highly recommended so far. What do you document? I manage a team of technical writers. Now I am looking to extend my project management skills in time with my people management skills.

I didn't have a 3 week stall but I also didn't have a pre-op diet and I think I managed around 700 calories a day during the liquid and purée phase, so I don't think I starved my body as much. Still, 16 kg in 10 weeks is fine with me (I think I will gain a kg back this week after being so sick for a week and finally recovering). I would love to see a kg every fortnight from here on out. I'm not too impatient. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
