Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hi guys- exciting news today... I reached my surgeons goal. I have lost 80kg in 10 1/2 months. I feel amazing!

I still wanna lost about 10-15 kg from here but I feel great. My BMI is still in the overweight range but my surgeon didn't care- she based my goal weight off my build and that my top weight was so high- although I am sure she will be pleased to see me under goal at my yearly appointment in early October :)

I am travelling for work- in Newcastle for a few days but here is a quick shot of me at GOAL!!

Congrats to all new Sleevers! This is an amazing opportunity and I wish you all the best as you start your new' date=' amazing lives!

Much thanks to you ALL who helped me through the very darkest of times and for your support ever since!!

Cheers Liss[/quote']

Congratulations!!! Very deserved achievement and you look fabulous.

Liss you look amazing and glowing with happiness and good health. What an astonishing amount to lose in such a short time!

I hope you don't mind me asking what your current weight is?We are a similar height and build. Both my surgeon and dietician don't think I will get lower than 98kg.It doesn't matter as any loss is a good loss but at the moment you are a real inspiration and represent a possible goal for me :)

Lol no worries. Thanks for your kind words!! So I am 176 cm tall and I am now 92.5 kg- goal was actually 93 kg so I am pretty stoked I skipped the 93's altogether :) I started at 173kg.

There are so many ways things are different- I went out to the movies and the seats (which I used to squish into and hope when I went they were the ones with removable arms) were HUGE! When you go to public toilets, cubicles are no longer too small and I can easily open the door even if I am standing in front of the loo :)

I can now go shopping and walk around without feeling like I need a break or a nap afterwards.

I fit into my bathtub- again it now seems huge.

I can shop in pretty much any store of my choosing :)

Professionally, I have had a promotion. I would never have even applied pre-surgery.

I can sleep comfortably in a bed- I didn't sleep in a bed for years- slept in a recliner cause of back discomfort and breathing issues.

I can come away for work or on holiday and sleep in the bed- not have to ensure there was a couch so I could sleep sitting up.

I am no longer invisible. Pre-surgery people would "accidentally" run into me all the time like they couldn't see me. Honestly can't remember the last time it happened- certainly not since the surgery.

I am more flexible and feel strong for the first time in my adult memory.

I am, for the first time in years, considering the possibility of a relationship.

I had written this off in my own head I think and didn't realise I had done it.

I can wear heels again.

I can slide down a slide with my 8 year old nephew.

I can go on rides at theme parks etc without worrying they'll bounce me for being over the weight limit :)

I can fly... Without an extension belt.

I have so much more energy!!

I am sure there is more but this is what immediately jumps to mind!

What about the other "veterans" - care to share how your lives are different now you've lost the weight?

And thanks to you all for your kind words!!

Cheers Liss

Liss, that list is so like mine.

I can now go shopping and walk around without feeling like I need a break or a nap afterwards....Ditto, even better I actually enjoy when I do go clothes shopping, rather than just choosing what would cover me that didnt look like a mu-mu

I fit into my bathtub- again it now seems huge....how awesome is that, i slip all over mine now...so bizarre

I can shop in pretty much any store of my choosing :)...Yep, including designer brands (of course I am still a cheapskate and buy designers from outlets or the US lol)

Professionally, I have had a promotion. I would never have even applied pre-surgery.

... well you do need more money to pay for all the new clothes and activities

Honestly can't remember the last time it happened- certainly not since the surgery.

...Its funny how you mention the "invisible" things and people running into you....I so relate to that. I said that on my video and so many people (lifetime skinny people) could not understand it. I thought maybe it was just me that experienced that stuff

I am more flexible and feel strong for the first time in my adult memory.....Super Liss!!!!!

I am, for the first time in years, considering the possibility of a relationship.

I had written this off in my own head I think and didn't realise I had done it.

I can wear heels again.....super sexy legs..wait to summer, those men will be circiling you.

I can slide down a slide with my 8 year old nephew.....And dont forget the swing sets..lol

I can go on rides at theme parks etc without worrying they'll bounce me for being over the weight limit :)....Add adventure activties here, apparently I am a thrill seeker now

I can fly... Without an extension belt....and sit in the seat and not touch anyone on either side

I have so much more energy!! Amen sista

Feeling sexy, weird feeling for me, but I feel curvy (atleast clothed...the plastics surgery will fix the unclothed part lol)

Looking forward to summer...I may even try a bikini (post plastics)...not sure the world or I am even ready for that

TMI...sex is better *embarassed look*...if I was in a relationship I would so be taking more advantage of that lol

I have more respect for myself, i expect more from myself and for myself.

Thanks to everyone who shared how much your lives have changed post sleeve. I am at the beginning of my sleeve journey and I get frustrated that it seems slow; until a friend got me to hold 20 kg of Dog food yesterday *I have lost 19 kg since 29/4/2013*, and then I realised what I have achieved so far. I have at least another 30 kg to lose, however, I have taken the first steps and that feels great.

Thanks again to the 'veterans' for supporting and inspiring us.

Michele :)

Lissa - so many things on my list too and crossing my legs like you too Kelli!

The other thing is actually realising that I actually have ribs! I knew they were in there somewhere!

Being able to move quicker and the feeling of lightness.

Very little joint pain these days - I found it difficult walking down hill let alone down stairs - now I don't even think about it being difficult!

People serve me in clothes shops!

People I don't know well take me more seriously - maybe this is just I radiate more confidence - I don't know really but it has changed

People now say things like "it is alright for people who are a tall and slim like you!" - I am still looking over my shoulder to see who they are talking to!

Finding myself browsing the self help diet book section in the book shop and then realising "I don't need these anymore!!!!"

Noticing how much television centres around weight! Ads, features, diets, food.... and on it goes. I never really noticed what a huge industry it is and many companies are peddling their latest drink, bar, detox, exercise machine, super food etc ect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
