mistysj 1,940 Posted June 25, 2013 Kelli, I went ahead and made an appointment with Diane for next Monday. I just don't feel like I can trust Andrew's advice. It is so different from what everyone else seems to be doing. I posted about this in the Nutrition forum too, asking if anyone else is following the same plan that Andrew has outlined for me. Yes, I am still losing, but it makes me feel very nervous that I am doing something so non-standard. And it seems too good to be true, that I can have so many carbs and so little Protein and still be "on plan." Can you tell me what to expect from Diane? What is her basic plan? Is it basically the high-protein low-carb low-fat plan? ALso, how much is she likely to cost me? I was too shy to ask her.
lessismore67 158 Posted June 25, 2013 This post is for any lurking pre sleevers who may be reading: just got a stressful call from the hospital telling me I wasn't covered for the sleeve op (item code 30518) by my health fund and I would have to pay $12,000.00 by next week. They had a written rejection from my fund.I have already paid $1,800.00 to the anaesthetist and am about to pay $6,000.00 to Dr Mosse. I checked with my fund before starting this whole process a few months ago and got given the all clear.Fortunately I insisted on a file note being added to my health fund notes when I rang. After many frustrating calls it turns out that-yes-I am covered and only have to pay $125.00 excess. There was a 'computer glitch' (hmmm) at my health fund's end.Ironic as their web page boasts that they cover bariatric surgery (two year waiting period). So get a written assurance if you can, or at least record the name or id of the person helping you, when checking with a health fund about the sleeve.Hope this helps someone avoid the horrible morning I have had. 5 tashk, *Shell*, kelliv and 2 others reacted to this

The same thing happened to me! Like 3 days before the surgery, the hospital called and said they don't have an account with my health fund (it is out of state and they had never heard of it) even though the health fund had already assured me I was covered. I contacted the health fund and had them call the hospital and they worked it out. Major stress-out. My health fund is in Perth and is called Central West. When we got them I think it was because they were the cheapest that would allow us to not have to pay the tax levee, but it turns out they have treated us really well. 1 lessismore67 reacted to this

Her advice to you may be different as I am sure it is slightly different for each person. She suggested I have to eat 60gms of Protein every day including 12 gms at Breakfast and the rest spread over remaining meals. 800 calories per day and to minimize things like rice, Pasta, potatoes. 3 meals per day one one or two Snacks if I feel the need. Since switching to Diane I have stalled less and feel better overall. I can't remember what she charges but she has Hicaps and I just pay the difference as my private medical insurance covers about $25 per visit. Hope this helps. 1 *Dean* reacted to this

I'm starting to feel I'm destined just to live the rest of my life over 100:0 Your weight can still fluctuate for lots of reasons within any 24 hour period, eg Fluid retention, PMS, heavy carb meal etc. I am sure it will be back under 100kg withina few days. Maybe don't weigh yourself for a couple of days and you may be surprised. 1 *Dean* reacted to this
