Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I had a client meeting at a soft drink company (not mentioning the name!). It Is kind of expected that you guzzle down the product while the meeting is on! I just had to say that I had stomach surgery that didn't allow me to drink carbonated drinks. The truth!

Sent from my iPhone using VST

How about 'I've had weight loss surgery and I'd feel like a hypocrite drinking your product because it's part of the problem for many people'!!

Maybe not so good for client relations ;):P

I don't find people really comment. I just order something small and usually my husband polishes off my leftovers anyway!

I'm the same Kell. It doesn't take too long that you can make a reasonable dent in a small serving of something sleeve friendly. Like fish. I find I can usually fit in a restaurant size serving of fish, a bit of the salad / veg leaving the carbs.

I went out to dinner with 4 girlfriends recently and felt v self conscious that they would notice I wasn't eating much. They didn't seem to notice at all, and I wasn't the only person who left a significant amount of food on my plate. I forget that many people are naturally small eaters - just not me!

I like being 'one of them'

Hi all. Sounds like we are doing well. It's nice to see others making the transition to full food.

I think I'm going to stall or have only a tiny loss this week. It's fine, I have been expecting the first stall.

But I'm so pleased with the sleeve. Yesterday we spent the afternoon and evening at a friend's playing board games. There are a,ways chips, lollies, beer, wine etc around. It's so easy to snack. Well, I did! I think I had 3 chips and 2 snakes. LOL! Then there was lovely homemade minestrone for dinner and I had a cup of it, and about 3 cm by 1 cm of brownie, with 1 tbsp cream for dessert. I felt included, I enjoyed the food, and I stayed in my calories. It was important that I didn't make the gathering awkward and I got what I needed too. I will note that I had a smaller Breakfast and morning snack at home and packed some of my own Snacks to have during the day.

Mass this morning, then we are going to get chooks! We have a large back garden and we picked up a chook shed two weekends ago. I'm thrilled. :)

Feels good to be losing weight but not feeling deprived for the first time ever doesn't it?

Day 5 preop and no more headaches:)Yay!

People at work are commenting on my weight loss (even tho the scales haven't changed much) and how tired I look. They think I am sick :( I am saying with a smile "Thanks I am on a strict medically supervised diet and everything is fine" then I ask how they are travelling.Works well as a distraction cos people love to talk about themselves! Lol!

I have found in the past that as the weight really comes off people aren't so interested in how much you eat. When I met up with my slim bestie recently she ordered a cooked Breakfast while I had a coffee. The waiter-who took the order in the first place-put this huge meal in front of me and looked surprised when I gave it to my friend :) I know this will change after the sleeve.

For me I found that the self conscious thinking about food changed over time. It changed to where I was self conscious but in a good way. Now when eating out or at social gatherings food isn't a huge priority and I don't even think about what other people 'might' think, or what a waiter 'might' think. I just do my thing.

Exactly!

The chooks are installed but they are staying in their house for now. Not very photogenic. Two black ones (australorp) and one brown-orange one (ISA Brown).

Misty, my sister in Victoria has two brown chooks, Maggie & Mabel and each lay every day. They live on 6 acres, so they are happy chooks as they get to roam the yard during the day.

Hi Kell, lunch sounds great Friday, let me know where and when :)

I am having a full body composition assessment done on Thursday where my muscle mass, fat, biometric age etc is all assessed and measured. Whole new experience and really looking forward to it..

Anyway, my little bit of uncomfortableness is now with all the compliments. Was shopping today and it honestly got a bit difficult as seemed like each aisle I ran into someone I knew and some hasn't been for quite some time so they could not get over the new me and just kept up with the compliments and it got quite difficult with the attention, can't believe getting that attention makes it uncomfortable, who would have thought

So I have uploaded a collage of some pics of my journey so far...so sad of where I was and still can't believe I let myself get that bad :( The pics in the black singlet are my most recent - the rest are along the way since July last year - 50kgs down

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
