I just posted this at MFP:

We are camping. I'm loving my sleeve! Scrambled egg, toast, and salsa for Breakfast. Hot dog and sauerkraut for lunch. Filet mignon and zucchini mushroom sauté for dinner. These are tiny portions as you can see from my food diary, but I'm satisfied, my tummy is handling it like a champ, and I can eat with my husband! I feel so fortunate at only a month out.

Since you can't see my food diary here, I'll say that this totaled 630 calories.

Hi Cathy, sorry to hear you have some challenges. Hopefully now you know what the problem is it will all ease. Maybe your body is just reacting to not being 100% well plus it's quite common to stall. I started stalling from week two onwards, but it always ends up coming down slowly but surely as long as you are not filling up with too many high calorie liquids and eating enough!!

Hi Jessk, I'm still waiting to b sleeved too. I am hoping for July sometime but that will depend on my surgeon. I applied for early release of super too and it took what seemed like forever! Be patient. It will happen. This forum is awesome.

Thanks for letting us know how you are Cathy.Pancreas pain can be awful.Your body is probably in shock from the op and the inflammation.Have you got extra pain relief?Hope you improve soon.

I am in Qld. The paperwork was all pretty straight forward. I sent it express post and they had it the next day. Mine took about 5 weeks to process, but that is not normal apparently. I had sent mine the day before Good Friday so there was a delay due to the public holidays, then the had to move offices for some reason and were really behind. It should only take 2-3 weeks. I have health insurance so only applied for out of pocket (about $5000). I have heard from a few people that they usually approve for this type of thing.

Once u have the letter u need to call ur super fund, fill out another form and send that off with the letter and they put the money in ur nominated account. Hope this helps. If u have any other questions, I am happy to answer if I can :)

Helen

Hey guys :) quite excited- I have just 4 kg to goal!! I can't believe it! I am about 4 weeks ahead of my initial plan of reaching goal by my birthday in August! Of course, this is just my surgeons goal- I will lose another 15 kg but just getting into what my surgeon felt was the top of my healthy weight range was will be awesome!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
