Evening everyone' date='

I have a question! When should ur bowels start working post op? Sorry if it's TMI[/quote']

Bec I was about 8 days, but once I started on puree food it helped. Take something like Benefibre with all meals and i ended up getting an over the counter laxative to get things moving in the end. Good luck

Oh and Lissa you look amazing!!!! I hope my loss goes as well as yours.Mine has slowed up.Lost first week and a half but now it has stopped .Didnt expect it to stop yet.

I actually gained weight at times initially - an I was on TPN for two months so go figure! I learned that I am a problem-weigher so keep my weighing to weekly at the most and the scales are in my office at work so I removed temptation :)

Oh and thanks :)

I have had a BM almost every day but almost all very loose. Bring on the solid food!

I had a bit of sharp pain in the stomach area today. I think it must mean more nerves are healing. It didn't really worry me.

I need to make an appointment with my GP because I'm almost out of nexium. And I woke up early this morning with reflux. First time it had ever happened. I propped myself up and slept a bit more and it went away. Just odd. But I don't want to stop the nexium yet.

Also have been sipping on my Water and been having my panadol. I'm feeling better today. But gees it's hard to get everything down!!! Lol. It feels like I've been eating/drinking all day lol

That's exactly how I felt in the liquid phase. By week 2 I could do 250 ml in an hour. You'll get there! It is a lot quicker to eat on purée.

Hi all- a quick progress shot <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> down 77 kg and it's 9 months post sleeve. I have 5 kg to my surgeons goal and about 20 until mine (although once I hit the surgeons goal' date=' I will just keep losing until I am happy with how I look and my body will also let me know I dare say about where it wants to sit lol). Have a happy Thursday!

I have never really come right - I am on osmolax all the time and have not been able to give up the Nexium.

I imagine I will be on these two for life as I had issues even before I lost weight.

Hi all :) here is a photo of my new size 16 dress from Birsdnest. It's reversible so it's like two dresses in one which I love as I travel a lot with work :) can't see it but I am wearing cute calf length boots which is a NSV on its own :)

It doesn't sound corny at all!

As for me, I got angry with a colleague and decided to leave and come home early. But then I felt guilty and logged back in from home. I don't think anyone noticed my tantrum. :P

Well I had a good morning today. But then at lunch time I had some Soup (same type I had in hospital) and then I started getting bad pains in the tummy :( i went for a walk this arvo and feel better but my heart starts beating hard and there is a little pain and then it goes away. I'm going to see how I go in a couple of hours and if I need I'll call my doctor

I hope you're feeling better now, Bec. I think the aches and pains are pretty normal the first week, but if you feel like something's wrong, call your doctor.

Well I ate TOO MUCH for dinner, So that's what that feels like. I felt like I had the worst gas bubble all throughout my stomach area. It was hard to even move. Just a couple of spoons of salsa on top of my half cup of food. Ugh. Live and learn!

It's a yukky feeling and I used to push it too often at the beginning. Over time it becomes easier to automatically stop before you feel uncomfortable. My doctor suggested to eat until I was full then stop one or two spoons beforehand!

I ended up calling the surgeon as my heart has been beating all over the place. Also I've been very light headed! Well I now just have to keep taking my pluse and temp. If they get high I'm to call him and then go to the hospital!! So I'm now resting on the couch

I joined yesterday when I was struggling with this preop diet...
It typically comes and goes, the hard times and easier times. I'm on day 6 of 14  shakes, water, sf Popsicles and jello. And I might actually be losing my mind. But, oh dear lord has the fear set in. Not about the surgery itself, but life afterwards. If I feel this crappy on the preop diet, am I going to feel like this forever after?
I know most of the answers are no, not forever. It might be worse after for a while, then get better. I know it's a more of a mental challenge than physical after the first couple weeks of healing. I get all of that. But I'm starting to feel scared about losing myself afterwards.
It might be my hormones or desire to chew something salty talking.. It may go away soon or tomorrow.. I can hope, anyway. But right now.. The fear is real.

And this liquid diet can bite me.

Fear is normal, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm 4.5 months post-op and the pre-op diet was by far the hardest part of the whole process. There will be challenges and a lot of new things to learn, but I can honestly say at this point I feel so much more "back to normal" and was even able to go on a week-long vacation with my kids without stressing over it. It's so worthwhile.

@NickelChip This actually does make me feel better! Thank you so much! After the onslaught of Covid, we've all had to deal with a "new normal", so I know it's possible. It's just the fear and frustration in this moment that makes me question if I can find another "new normal" afterwards. The thought of just a few more months seems daunting some times, but I really do appreciate input and real experience. I'll use that to get me through for a few more hours! LOL. Thank you so much! And I'm glad everything is going so well for you! ❤️

I started my 10 day pre op diet yesterday I need flavor!! I'm not big on the chocolate protein shakes so I just got to use up what I have was thinking about freezing it to make it like a ice cream so its something I can chew a little. Idk this is hard but I know I can do it just need to find new things to try

You can try. I've read other people have had good results with protein-shake popsicles, etc. My personal experience with it? Sucked.

I tried making 'fudgesicles' with a couple different flavors of a premade shake, as well as a protein powder I blended myself and all of them came out revolting? The powder ones, all the protein sunk to the middle; the premade shakes, the popsicle had a disgusting texture and the protein seemed to leave a weird fluffy film on the outside? I couldn't stomach it.

Maybe look into flavoring additives? I was able to have sugar-free coffee /soda syrup flavorings, sugar-free drink flavorings and baking additives like almond, rum or pepperment extract. The extracts helped me the most as they added no extra sweetener.

On the other hand, if you can get your hands on an unflavored/unsweetened protein powder, the syrup flavorings are perfect. I love to use Boost "Just Protein" (which is unflavored) with milk and a Chai-flavored sugarfree syrup.

        Good luck!
