Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Thanks everyone! I'm nervous and excited. I've just got things going through my head like "Am I doing the right thing?" "Will I regret this?" "Will I be ok?" Just stuff like that

You'll be fine Bec. Just relax and know you are in good hands and that you have made this decision for all the right reasons.

Hi Cathy, I hope you've spoken to your doctor by now. Could be "gas" pains but I believe back pain can signify other problems too, so best to check. I didn't have pain afterwards that I'd describe as "agony" and it seems most don't. Best to get it checked out pronto. Good luck.

Good luck tomorrow Bec!

Cathy- you should get checked out ASAP- please do, just in case.

Had a NSV that cracked me up- was told to get rid of my "fat" clothes today - I was wearing a size 18 bwahahaha - if they only knew :)

Hope you're all well! Cheers Liss

Cath I would atleast put a call into your surgeon and check what they thinks, it could be just gas but really better safe than sorry. If it is gas the best thing is walking.

I dont remember having any specific back pain, it was more around my shoulders.

Welcome to all the newbies..it is great to see new people coming through, as you may have noticed we have peolpe here at all stages of the sleeve life.

Sydneysiders, I am going to throw out a date of the 19th June to have a catch up. How does that sound?

I really appreciate that the "oldies" stick around and answer all the newbie questions over and over. This is a great thread!

Pre-sleeve I would have a huge problem actually packing a lunch (too easy to eat out) and then making myself eat it if I did pack it (too boring). The sleeve has already saved me so much money on eating-out costs! I have not been out at all since surgery and probably won't for a while. It seems like such a waste of money!

I txted Bec good wishes. :)

Hi all' date='just wondering if anyone has experienced any back pain.I was done may 22nd and I still have such bad back pain.Walking, standing for long periods is agony.Didnt have any before surgery.[/quote']

Was thinking about this through the night Cathy - bear in mind I'm only pre-op so just an idea. Perhaps your back pain is coming from a compensation issue. With the subconscious being such a powerful thing it's quite possible you are protecting your core abdominal muscles and overworking your back without even realising.

19th June looking good to me (depending on actual time and location). Despite being an oldie I have young un's to get to and from school in the far flung 'burbs. Middle of the day or evening suits me best. I'll watch out for more details and look forward to meeting you soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
