sueoco 509 Posted May 22, 2013 Aussiegirl, Lissa and Misty - I feel your cold pain! I walked from the city across the pyrmont bridge to work this morning and I was chilled to the bone! I was wearing spencer, merino wool skivvy, cardy AND coat! I think I need full on thermals including the long johns - hey wasn't part of the deal that I was actually going to look sexier in my underwear!! 4 Sunette, kelliv, Lissa_S and 1 other reacted to this
Aussiegirl 580 Posted May 23, 2013 LOl Sue. I know I didnt know that winter was going to make me look like i was dressed in one of those Sumo suits. Misty, yep better stock on the warm clothing, it will be needed. Sue, do you work i Pyrmont? I live in Pyrmont and walk/run the Bridge most nights...we may pass each other. We really should catch up in the middle some time 1 *Dean* reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted May 23, 2013 Morning all! I was so lazy yesterday with the cold and rain and didn't get a single walk in. Today it's gorgeous so I plan to take two 30-minute walks. I'm still working on my Breakfast so will take the first one after that. It's hard to believe that my two weeks are almost up! I go back to work on Monday and start the purée phase Tuesday. I've been told to eat 6 times a day during this phase and only 1/2 cup at a time. That means I need to eat 3 times at work each day. Does anyone have any recipes? For Breakfast I will have porridge or semolina, or ricotta blended with fruit. For morning tea I can have yogurt and puréed fruit or mashed banana. For the other 4 meals I have been told to have something that is half meat and half veg/starch (rice or pasta), with a good amount of sauce and blended smooth. I think I would like to make 3 different-tasting things that I can freeze in half-cup size portions. That way I can just toss them in my lunch bag in the morning. I have a small fridge in my office at work and there is a microwave. I have to drink one Protein shake a day as a liquid, not a Meal Replacement. I am very busy during the work day and I go straight from work to band rehearsal on Tuesdays and don't get home until after 10 pm, so I need to make this as easy and organized as I can. 1 lessismore67 reacted to this
Kitikat 45 Posted May 23, 2013 Hi everyone .... I am new here and just wanted to say hello. I am currently in the process of converting from band to sleeve and had my band placed in august 2008 at a weight of 110 kgs. I successfully negotiated life with the band and was happy at 68 kgs (I am 173 cms)until December 2012 when I started having a lot of reflux issues and just a feeling that something was not right. I had all of the fill removed after scans came back showing all appeared ok and having such a great BMI the surgeon did not want to do anything immediately. My surgeon at the time was very pro-bypass and as I began to re-gained weight that seemed to be the track we were headed towards. With a feeling that perhaps the bypass wasn't for me I saw another surgeon who said that unlike my previous surgeon he did not feel that band to sleeve is an unsafe procedure and therefore I went ahead and had my band out last month. This proved to be a great decision as my gut feeling turned out to be correct and my band had adhered to my liver!!! Now back at 90 kgs I have a sleeve date of 9th July and cant wait for the calendar to tick around. With 7 weeks to go I am forcing myself to Optifast for 2 weeks to keep my weight stable between now and surgery. Then I will splurge a bit before my 1 week optifast prior to surgery begins. It is really a bummer to be back at this point after 4 years of living life at a great weight and I just want my old "couldn't care less about food" life back!!! Anyway ... just wanting to introduce myself and look forward to getting to know everyone :-) 8 lessismore67, one_elle26, Bec101 and 5 others reacted to this
sueoco 509 Posted May 23, 2013 Aussiegirl - I am back at work after a year off. I only work from the office one day a week on Wednesdays so if you are running on that bridge at about 8am in the morning or 5pm in the evening - then I have definitely passed you! I will keep my eye out for you! Kitikat - welcome to our thread! You will have some fun here! We are all at different stages all going different things so have most things covered. Hope your pre op and post op stages go well. I guess you are well versed with the chew chew and eating slow bit! 1 *Dean* reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted May 23, 2013 Welcome, Kitikat! I think this is the best and most supportive thread on VST. There is a whole forum on here related to band-to-sleeve conversion too. It's such a gorgeous day in Brissie! I hope you other Brisbanites are enjoying the weather too. I just got back from a walk and now I'm on the deck with my Water. 3 kelliv, *Dean* and Bec101 reacted to this
Kitikat 45 Posted May 23, 2013 It is a great day here in Brissy .... I wanted to go for a walk but am avoiding exercise for the first 3 or 4 Optifast days because the last thing I need is to be any hungrier than I am!!! Can anyone in Brissy recommend a good dietician and also tell me if you think the visits were worthwhile. I don't have to go as I successfully achieved long-term weight loss with the band and am in two minds whether to go to one anyway. I have a great understanding of the stages and dietary requirements so am not sure it will be of great benefit. I will definitely check out the band-to-sleeve forum for information but am really keen to interact with fellow Aussies :-) 2 mistysj and *Dean* reacted to this

She has rooms at Red Hill and out of the surgeons rooms at Chermside. She takes other clients there as well. I found that puree tuna/cottage cheese was tasty during this phase as well as thick (but not lumpy) Soups with chicken, Beans or legumes in for Protein. Also good n cold days. 2 Bec101 and lessismore67 reacted to this
