one_elle26 118 Posted May 14, 2013 I had my Post op review today with my Surgeon, it's an hour's drive from home so we left it for two weeks. So, I am a very happy sleever, I have lost 9.2kg since surgery and my Surgeon is 'very no fuss' and I am to go straight to 'solids' as of tomorrow. So, it's all systems go from here !!!!! One very happy sleever. Michele 1 Bec101 reacted to this

Let us know how you go and well done with your fabulous weight loss so far.
one_elle26 118 Posted May 14, 2013 Kelli, he was absolutely definite about going straight to solids, he even listed all the foods he doesn't want me having, such as, Yoghurt, ice cream, shakes etc etc. I am going to transition to solids, so I plan to start with softer foods like poached eggs, steamed Salmon, Bolognese Sauce and work my way up to more solid food. And I want to keep having my Protein Shake every day, because I want to be proactive about not losing my hair, and it seems that Protein may be one way to help. I have learnt so much from 'veteran sleevers' and I know that I won't be eating a steak tomorrow night for dinner. LOL. For the other presleevers: the schedule I have been given by my surgeon is 2 weeks fluids, 4 (yes *four*) weeks puree then 2 weeks soft solids. There really is so much variation between surgeons isn't there.... 1 one_elle26 reacted to this

mistysj 1,940 Posted May 15, 2013 I just had the leak test. They had to do it twice because the doctor wasn't sure about it. I don't know for sure the results but the X-ray tech said it looked fine to him. I had to drink this clear liquorice flavoured stuff. I've had worse. If the results are good I can get off the IV and try some liquids besides Water. 3 kelliv, one_elle26 and *Dean* reacted to this

mistysj 1,940 Posted May 15, 2013 No leaks and I'm in the clear. No more IV, I was able to have a shower, and I will be able to start on full liquids! I had a bit of stomach pain during the leak test but nothing since. Panadol is doing the job. I can swallow capsules no problem. I'm on nexium too. 8 kelliv, Aussiegirl, lessismore67 and 5 others reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted May 15, 2013 My blood sugar has dropped from 7.7 to 5.2! It looks like the metformin might already be in my past. 4 *Dean*, Bec101, kelliv and 1 other reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted May 15, 2013 First meal! I will only be able to have a few tastes. The nurse had to take some things away. Jelly and ice cream. 3 lessismore67, *Dean* and Bec101 reacted to this
*Dean* 1,594 Posted May 15, 2013 Hey guys, Been MIA for a while with work. You're all obviously doing fantastic. Firstly sorry I missed Mondays lunch. First day at a new job, I didn't think I'd be in a position to sneak off, and I wasn't. Michele - congrats on all the great early results. Misty - glad to see you out the otherside! And so it begins ...... Best of health to you all, Deano 1 one_elle26 reacted to this
*Dean* 1,594 Posted May 15, 2013 Oh - I hit the 6th month post op mark a week ago. Start weight 137.7 kgs Current weight 94.7 kgs Lost 43 kgs My goal weight is 82kgs, which is the top of my healthy weight range. The weight loss has slowed down considerably, but I'm happy just chipping away at it. To be honest I've come this far, if I have a week where I lose .5kg I'm happy. Keep smiling, Deano 5 kelliv, tashk, Bec101 and 2 others reacted to this
mistysj 1,940 Posted May 15, 2013 You are doing so well, Dean! Your doctor must be happy as well. As for me, I had my first unpleasant side effect. A bout of he runs after dinner. But this too shall pass. I'm a little worried because the Soup had some small bits in it and the custard was thick so I didn't have much of either. The only hing that felt ok was the yogurt. I was dipping the spoon in and licking a tiny bit off at a time. I managed to get about 2/3 of the container down. I don't feel very stuffed but maybe that's because it's liquid. 1 one_elle26 reacted to this

Jelly, ice cream, custard and bits in soup are NOT allowed. You would think they could get it right. Ask hubby to bring you something like V8 vege juices or Up & Go or miso soup (without the bits). Does your doctor think you will be in for a third night?
