Hi guys' date=' I'm just in the process of meeting my dietician and surgeon, just wondering how long you waited for surgery after your first meeting with your surgeon?[/quote']

Hello and welcome tashk! I could have had the surgery within five weeks of my initial consult with the surgeon as long as I saw the dietician etc. However, I have to wait for an endoscopy, so mucking around with appointments with a different specialist has pushed the surgery out to July.Good luck with your dates!

Hi,

Welcome tashk, Susan, this is a wonderful thread which has sprung back to life recently. :) Puppyphat, I have Depression related to Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder so I can only empathise with your situation. The only advice I will give you is to please, please reach out to someone and get some help. We love your quirky sense of humour and your wisdom about this journey. I have learned so much from you.

Sending every available 'warm fuzzie' to you and asking the Angels above to watch over you and keep you safe. <3

I hope the Queenslanders enjoy your 'get together'.I want to brag a little: I lost 6.6 kg in my first week. Very Happy!!! I know it will slow down, but for now I'll like those numbers. My recovery is going well, although I find I fatigue very quickly so there's not much getting done apart from making Protein Drinks and swallowing tablets it seems. I am very fortunate that I can receive help with the housework, so that is not a stress.

To all I hope that the sun shines down upon you tomorrow as a sign that we are all doing our best to get well in whatever form that takes.

Love

Michele <3

Wow' date=' so how are you feeling??? Did you do opti fast for one or two weeks? I'm in totally agree in regards to seeing a psychologist, I want to be in the "right" place before it all happens![/quote']

Tash, I'm feeling good. Excellent post op care with 4 nights in Mater and now hubby and son allowing me to take it easy. Did Optifast for 2 weeks - stick to it strictly as it is easier if you get into ketosis quickly and stay there. I've posted about this elsewhere.

VSG is a weird thing to do to your body alright. My BMI was 36, so not as high as many, but I have a growing list of weight related illnesses, have had cancer once and both my parents died before the age of 60... And I'm 52 and have gained 30kg over the past 6 years, at a pretty consistent rate. These things made my hubby and I, and my GP and WLS, decide whatever the long term difficulties of living with a tiny stomach it had to be better than dying young. I'd hate to do this simply to get back into size 12 clothes (although I'm looking forward to that too), and a psych should really help us think that through.

It's early days for me but its not a walk in the park. My husband and I are both foodies/wine lovers (he eats far more than me - even he admits it - and is under 75kg), and I know I will miss sharing this part of our life together. I'll have to learn to ride a motorbike, so we a new obsession to share (he's already obsessed)!!!

Hi Susan, loved your latest post. My husband and I also love food and wine and dining out and it's still possible to enjoy this once you get a sleeve. I enjoy the odd glass of wine before or after a meal and eat most of the foods I like, only in smaller portions which I could never have done before surgery.

tashk, which Surgeon are you seeing in Rocky? and also, which Dietitian? I know a number of people who have been sleeved in Rocky and if Dr Russell and his team are doing your Surgery I Have it on good authority that he is wonderful. I hope you consultations go well and would love to hear how they go?

All the Best

Thank you all for sharing, it's encouraging and also gives me a real idea of what my journey will be. I am seeing Dr Russell :) I have 3 clients that have seen him and watched them blossom inside and out over the last 2 years. Super excited, terrified and nervous all at the same time!!

Bec101 how exciting for you!! June 3rd is my birthday so it will be a good day for both of us. I don't get to see my surgeon til the end of June. I'm hoping for surgery in September, trying to plan around my work.

That's great Tash! It's also my nana's birthday too!! The time will fly by till u see ur surgeon. I'm starting to get worried as everyone has said they saw a phyic but I was not told to see anyone. I think I might be just reading into it too much. I know my head is in the right place though.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
