Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hi Lessismore and Sueoco

Thank you for responding. I haven't measured myself but notice the difference on my clothes and people are starting to notice.

I agree with you Sue I think my body might be in shock and need to adjust. I will just keep doing what I am doing and I believe that it will come off.

Thank you for the encouraging words.

:)

Hi guys' date=' thanks for welcoming me, I haven't been able to stomach many purées I'm struggling to eat really I'm 3 weeks tomorrow can drink I do have depressed and down days but I know it's for the best :) I hope the next few months fly so I can love my sleeve :)[/quote']

Hi Sess, are you under the guidance of a dietician? It's important to get the right advice post surgery for a whole range of reasons., especially if you are feeling a bit down. You can always pst questions on here and we can share our experiences but what works for one person doesn't automatically work for anyone else. At 3 weeks out I was still sipping Water between 4-6 small soft food meals each day. Was only getting in 1/4 - 1/2 cup of soft food per sitting and had to learn to eat slowly or it was uncomfortable. Thick hearty Soups with vege, Beans, legumes, chicken etc went down well. Soft cheeses, soggy Cereal, porridge, fish, yoghurt, soft fruits are all good during this time. Also are you taking multi Vitamins to supplement your diet?

Hi guys. I finally decided to join in on this thread. Have been following the thread for a while now. A lot of useful information I just love reading everybody stories.

My name is Sunette and I am from Perth WA.

Sleeved 22/3/2013 about 6 weeks out.

Pre-surgery weight 99.8kg

Surgery day 95.4kg

Post op weight loss 6.1kg

Currently 89.2kg

I have lost consistently for the 1st 3 weeks post op and nothing since then. Getting in my Protein and Water and walking a lot (I am a Registered Nurse) I am becoming discouraged and thinking is this it? What if my sleeve isn't working? I know almost everybody stall at 3 weeks but a 3 week stall in total is just getting me down.

Well that is my final crying in your ears.

Congrats to everybody weight loss so far. Honestly love this thread and support.

:)

Sunette

Hi Sunette, welcome and glad you have decided to chat with us. I am the queen of stalls and have been since week 3 too. If you are following the dietary advice trust that it will continue to come off. It's your body adjusting to the new regime. I was sleeved 14 August 2012, started pre op at 107kg and currently 78.4kg. Slow progress but it is still going down. I recently changed dieticians and wish I had received her advice to use during the first 6 months. Eg. Protein at EVERY meal, min 60 grams per day with 12 of those at Breakfast. Avoid Pasta, rice, potato, but eat lots of other veges and fruits. High fibre, grainy bread ok, but one slice per meal. Min 1.5 litres of Water each day. Cheers

Hi Aussie Kelloff

I saw Dr Rob Finch last week' date=' have private insurance and will be applying for my super to pay for the gap. Probably like many of you, I know and have been on many interesting diets over the years.

I'm looking at going in for my sleeve op in mid-June at Holy Spirit Chermside and taking two weeks off after it to rest and get used to my new lifestyle.

I would love to catch up with you before I got in to see how you are going and for any advice.

I'm actually very excited about the whole process and what changes will happen in the future.

Cheers, GC[/quote']

Hi GC, welcome and good luck for your surgery. I am in Brisbane too and look forward to meeting you soon. Cheers, kelli

Love getting out and about - went for a run around Forest Lake and watched the Anzac Day ceremony this morning with husband then went into South Bank and had lunch at The Plough Inn ( with my takeaway container in my bag) - life is so good :)

So good to be back in Australia! Although I won't be back in Brissie for another couple of hours. A,Erica just doesn't feel like home anymore.

I didn't eat the best on this trip but I didn't do too much last-suppering. I did go overboard with sushi one night but I stopped before it got too ridiculous.

I tasted a sip of a diet coke and it was sooooo overly sweet. I've been off it for about a month and I think I've kicked it this time. I did have a bit more coffee on this trip than the one a day I have been having but I was so tired so I guess it was not the end of the world.

May 4 is when my deposit is due! It's coming up so fast.

Welcome home Misty. The countdown is starting for you. You must be feeling excited and no doubt a little anxious which is very normal. I think we all felt that way to some degree before surgery, even though we know we've made the right decision. Trust in knowing you've made the best decision for you and enjoy the ride!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
