Puppyphat - that is fantastic. Fit, loves animals and can obviously hold a good conversation - sounds like a winning combination to me! Lissa - Glad your holiday went well - the next six months will fly - you have done so well with your weight loss - Are you energy levels good now? A progress report on me - I stopped eating sweet things for a week and have lost weight - 62.5 kg now but generally I seem to be maintaining. I really want to get rid of this habit of having a cake for a snack as I know as we can eat more this will cause me weight gain and I DON'T want to get on that guilt road again. Can't wait to see my dietician so she can give me a slap on the wrist! Can't wait to get back to work so I have money to finally join the gym or step into life classes - I need to be pushed it comes to exercise as I don't enjoy it!

Oh Kelli - how I wish I'd seen this before I had left for my holiday! I just got home after a brilliant stay and can't wait to start planning the trip for next year! I will be back on the Coast in September for my year post op surgery visit with the surgeon. I would love to catch up with you guy's then - hopefully I will even be at goal! Just 30kg to go (well' date=' 12 to the surgeon's)!

Thanks Kell :) I am "flying solo" and had kind of given up. I no longer feel like I've given up and notice that I am more likely to make eye contact and smile at people in general. But I now notice that men respond to that and though nothing's come of it, I am really looking forward to dating in the future. Although I imagine that will bring it's own bag of worries lol :)

I have been really lucky with my weight loss so far! Have no idea how things went on holidays as I haven't weighed myself but I am hoping that I haven't gained anything :) I will have to check when I get back to work on Tuesday.

Sue - I am getting energy back although I still find that I get tired quickly. At the theme parks it was brilliant - I could go on any ride without concern. We went on the aquaduck too and there was plenty of room in the seats for both me and my nephew. So totally cool! With regards to the energy level - I find this to be an ongoing source of frustration for me. However I recently swapped from a high Protein diet to one where I eat more fruit and veggies and it seems to be working well for me. I still try to eat Protein at most meals in some form but eating the lighter foods (fruit and veggies) not only kick started my weightloss (which had slowed down a bit) but helped with the energy levels.

I am furiously packing now - I basically have to pack my whole house over the next five days so I can move over Easter. That should help - gotta love the incidental exercise :)

It would be beneficial to continue seeing a dietician throughout this crucial transition period. Where are you located as perhaps one of us can recommend someone.

Thank you for the offer kelliv but I'm happy with my dietician. But I will take your advice and will email my dietician.

Saw a great dietician today at Wesley Hospital. She suggested I focus on Protein (contrary to my original dietician), Water and resistance exercise. Interesting that for every 1kg we lose, 200gms of it is muscle which needs to e replaced.

9 months post op today and I weighed myself........................and I've gained. How is that fecking possible? Gaining 1.3kg since last week. I am so not gonna be in a good mood today.

Kelliv, good luck with the new advice....

Nessa, dont let it get you down too much. Your body is probably readjusting after months of loosing. I would often gain a small amount of weight and then loose it is some of its friends the next few weeks or so. Now I am maintaining, I can easily swing 1.5 kgs up and down over a day *shrug*

I was talking to my trainer today and said that I wanted to loose another 2-3kgs to be exactly half what I started out at, to which he replied where from? You are all muscle :)

It gave me a bit of a smile, cause he isnt one to just say nice things for the sake of it. I ofcourse had no problem showing him exactly where it needs to come off...

But I will call that win of the day.

Kelli - sounds like good advise from your dietician - I have been pretty much focused on Protein most of the time other than my healthy obsesssion with sweet things! I thought I was seeing mine today but it turned out it was only an appointment with my surgeon. He was pretty happy with me reaching goal but says I must get into the exercise as my metabolism will be so low now with the low calories I have been consuming that any increase in calories will cause a weight gain. Exercise will increase my metabolism so as I can eat more as time goes on, I will be able to maintain. Hey - I am great with the theory but not so good at actually putting the exercise part into practice!

Lissa - glad to hear your energy levels are a bit better. I know what you mean about the carbs - they do give you more energy but then do slow down the weight loss - it is all a balancing act. Just make sure that you don't get Iron deficient like I have - I did have the symptoms which was fatigue and dizziness but didn't realise that was what it was. Back on track with that now.

Nessa - don't worry too much about a gain - I know it is discouraging but I am the same as Aussiegirl and can swing up and down a kilo or so. It depends on what kind of week I have and what kind of Fluid I am carrying etc. The important thing is to keep putting one foot in front of the other and talk yourself out of feeling bad about it - just lie back and think of Hawaii!. I think we are all way too hard on our selves because of years of carry the guilt of being over weight - time to let that go with the weight is what I say!

Aussiegirl - you are such an inspiration to me. Once I get my head around this exercise thing I hope I can get comments like that. You must feel amazing! How are your energy levels - my muscles are going to get such a shock when I actually do start exercising!

Woohoo :) Weighed myself post-holiday - still managed to lose two kilos!! Super stoked!! That means that I only have 12 kilo's until my surgeon's goal (healthy weight range) and about 30 until mine. yay!!

Sue, you are so right and ditto re the exercise. My dietician really emphasised the importance of it and I am sure the surgeon will do so as well when I see him on Thirsday.

Sue, thanks :) I wish I could say it is easy to bring the exercise in. I know i had to work hard to make it a habit for me. Even after breaking my ankle earlier this year and no exercise I had a struggle to get back into it. But most days even tho I am usually sore from one exercise or another I feel even worse, sluggish if I dont do it. That and I love being able to do 5 flights of stairs without huffing and puffing :) Also sitting around, and eatting what I can eat nowadays I was starting to put on weight.

Now I have been cleared (kinda) to start trying running again, I am going to try the couch to 5km to get my running fitness. Hopefully between starting running again and the detox I want to do after easter I will kick those last 2-3kgs for good :)

Kelli, I agree with your dietician. I technically have not lost more than a 1-1.5 kgs in the last 5 months, but everyone still thinks that I am loosing, because of the exercise and toning that I am doing.

Lissa, congrats, another 2kgs. It is awesome to come home from holidays and have that feeling!! Hope all the move is going ok!!

Hey guys.

I agree. I think diet, exercise, weight and good health are all enmeshed. I don't think you can truly achieve one without all the others in some form.

For example I always find if I have a good week of training (ie all the stars align with work stuff, kid stuff etc) and I train 4 or 5 times in a week I always have a good week with food, without any effort. It just happens.

My name is Bec, I've been reading all the posts today from page 1. I've been told that the sleeve is the best thing for me as I have PCOS and I just can't lose weight but the normal ways. Anyway I had been googling the subject for the last 2 weeks and now after reading everyone's journey's I have decided that when I go see my endo I'll be telling her that I'll go for the sleeve!! i see her on the 16th April. I now can't wait to get the ball rolling. My husband is behind me 100% which is great. Oh and I'm on the southside of Brisbane. I hope no one will mind if I ask lots of questions. Thanks for reading lol.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
