For those 6 months or more out, did you get to a stage where you can eat a little more and it freaked you out? I am at that stage at the moment. I can now eat a whole piece of toast (mostly) or tonight, I had some spinach and ricotta agnotti (sorry can't spell) with a Tomato sauce and ate (over about an hour admittedly) 8 of them. I guess it's silly but for the first time since I've been eating, I am actually concerned about the calories I am consuming. I log everything (and have done so for a few months) and although my calorie count is still low (averaging 500 cal per week) it's certainly increased (from about 300).

I do feel better and mostly have more energy which is great. I guess given that I still have 17kg to the surgeon's goal and 33 until mine, I am worried that I won't lose the last of the weight. It's made worse by the fact that I only lost 0.8kg this week. This is the first time I haven't lost at least a kilo.

I know it's silly and I am probably just being self-indulgent in worrying about this, but it's playing on my mind at the moment.

I know that I have to really start doing more exercise - I started the couch to 5k app but have stopped it under medical advice. I will try to commit to walking three times a week as of NOW. So I need to walk three times between now and Sunday which I can do :) *sigh* Sorry I think this turned into a journal lol.

Hope you're all well :) Cheers, Lila

Hi Lila. I'm the same. Only I have some days where I can eat heaps and other days where I can eat hardly anything.

On Wednesday last week, it took me 45 mins to eat 1 grilled lamb cutlet and I felt like I was going to explode. On Sunday, I ate a crumbed lamb cutlet no probs at all, could have probably had 1/2 of another one.

I find that the days I'm at home and grazing, I can eat more per sitting. The days when I'm at work and eat hardly anything, every mouthful is a struggle.

While I would like to drop another 5kg, I've been sitting on 55kg for a month and am happy-ish there. I've stopped tracking calories. I'm just careful about what I eat. Good luck.

AngieP and KelBel, I believe it is quite common to feel exhaustion on the 3rd week, YOu are usually going back to work and doing more, but still eatting very little. Best I can say is give yourself time to recover, drink Water, dont rush back into life full force. If you can try consume some more Protein.

Liss, definitely!! From recollection the "capacity" of my stomach felt like it changed. At around 6 months and then around 11 months. It has been pretty stable since then. It still is tempormental at times but it probably was before I just never knew it, now I am more aware.

I would say now on a good day I can consume around 1500 cals easily, on a bad day (ie stressful days,, party days etc) it can go over 2000, mainly cause of grazing.

Thanks Puppyphat :) I admit that there are good and bad days. I was flat out at work today and all i have had is a few grapes and half a toasted sandwich. I am still working on that Pasta dish but tonight I am full after 3 pieces. So I think you're right, I just need to keep an eye on it but take a chill pill :)

Hey Aussiegirl - I am relieved to know that it's normal about this time. And that there's probably another one coming up towards the end of the year. Awesome ;p

Fingers crossed I will have a better weight loss outcome next week!

Cheers, Liss

But I keep forgetting to use Lila in my sign off's so it can be a bit weird lol. So I decided to change my name to my actual one ;p Sorry for any confusion!!

Are there any Aussies who use MFP and have open diaries who want to be "friends"?

I think I have just two Aussies and the rest from USA. Would love more Aussie friends so I can get more ideas with our foods instead of looking at stuff I don't have access too

Ta Jen

Karen, Karen, Karen

I will remember that!

When I said friends, I didn't mean the rank and file on VST, but more the people you've spoken to every other day for months - like you guys.

Have a good day everyone!

Deano

I guess everyone has already figured it out - but my name is actually Sue!

Wow - 3000 calories - I think those days for me were when I wasn't even counting - could have been 5000 for all I knew!

Lissa - yes I seem to be able to eat a lot more now - I don't count calories but I have stayed the same weight for the last month now and I am happy with that. It will slow down but you are still losing - that is the main thing. My challenges are 1. Get my cholesterol down 2. Get my Iron up and 3. Stay the same weight!

Hope everyone is going OK - welcome to all the new people on this thread - sorry I am not much of a cook so not so good on ideas for food other than I have just started drinking oolong tea with lavender which is supposed to be fat burning and relaxing! Also my husband swears by the Gojo berries (which I add to my muesli) - he was getting teased at work about going all new age and hippy with his gojo berries, nuts and fruit but has had the last laugh as they are all sick except for him! And not forgetting the chia seeds which I put on everything - thanks Dean for that one!

Just an update, I am 7 months post op and have lost 25kg. Started at 107kg and have another 14 to go. Stalled again for the past month so going to see a new dietician in Brisbane who specialises in weight loss surgery patients and in particular the differences in nutrition between Sleevers and lap band people. Stuck in 82kg and really want to get into the 70's. Also haven't seen my surgeon since one month post op as he moved, but seeing him later this month and had a series of blood tests this morning. It will be interesting to see what they show. It's weird that I still see fat when I look in the mirror even though I haven't been this light in about 15 years and my clothes are all a lot smaller. The mind is a strange thing. It's an interesting journey and one I don't for even a second regret taking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
