Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Well I am happy to report that I think my weight has stabilised. I went from 63 kg last week up to 64kg this week - as long as I don't keep going up I will be happy. I guess it is impossible to stay exactly the same each week so I should expect a few 2kg fluctuations. I seem to be able to eat a bit more each meal so I am trying not to snack between meals now - I can see why the surgeon told be not to get into the habit of snacking on Protein between meals - it is a habit you then need to break once you can eat more each meal, HOWEVER, easier said than done (as you know Lila) when you can't eat enough in the early days.

I will keep you posted on how I handle this and share my challenges on maintenance! I am really happy with wear I am at now but must admit it is quite easy to become obsessed with losing weight when that is all you have focused on for months and quite disconcerting when you see the scales do up!

Hi All, I am home again...grounded to Australia for a little while now.

Sara, I agree it was a pretty crappy way for the trainer to behave. I would not let him slow you down, really the only person who can get you down is you. I would suggest working one on one with a trainer, where ever financially possible. They are able to see where you are at, and work you the best way to get fitter and more capable. My trainer that I had initially was great at working with me and also a support, but finding the right one is the key.

Kazza, as most the others have said, trust your sleeve and work at the pace. Staying hydrated is the key at first. Even with mushies only a t-spoon more than you capacity and it aint pretty ( i am sure we have all experienced it).

Seth, Angie, KelBel, good luck with the recovery I am suer you will rock it :)

Lila, way to go! Respect!

An update from me.

Had a good time gallavanting around New Orleans and New York, even with a broken ankle (which was not easy but can only imagine how hard it would have been if I was my previous weight). Got into a very small mardi gras costume (see below) which I could never have imagined wearing and feeling comfortable in. Met some amazing new people and reconnected with some of my really good friends.

Tommorow will be my 16 month surgervisary. Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I have been suprised recently by how much I can now consume in one sitting. I guess it is definitely a new definition of normal tho. For example, yesterday I was able to finish a rich piece of chocolate cake (in 2 sittings), I am able to finish most a sandwhich (not eatting the crust), half a burger, i even ate a whole McDonalds cheeseburger (which feels like a alot now right? Before a Big Mac, Fries and a coke wouldnt fill me up). I am not saying that I am always making the right choices but I am also well aware of the bad choices if that make sense.

Despite not being able to really work out for the last 6 weeks and eatting what i would say is badly I have not breached my weight barrier.

While i monitor my weight and what I eat now, it does not define me or my journey. I will try and loose the last 5kgs that are still here after the sexy boot comes of.

For now I look forward moving on with my life, where weight does not define me. I am looking forward to finding love, family....not necesarily in any order...long story there :)

Wow!! Love the photo, congrats on your 16 months and best of luck on your future wishes and dreams :-)

Congrats Sue :) This is fantastic! I get what you are talking about with changing your thinking at the maintenance stage. I was just talking about this to my friend yesterday (not that I am there yet), but was thinking I have been so focused for so long on loosing weight, once I get down to where I want to be I will have to change my strategy :) Good luck and let us know how you go! I am keen to hear about the challenges of maintenance!!

That's great Sue.

Looking forward to hearing about any maintenance challenges. My BMR at the moment is about 2100 cals. When you chuck in some movement / exercise I can't imagine eating that much to maintain - but I'm sure I'll manage!!

Hi there, are there any March sleepers being done in Melbourne. I'm being done 18/03 at Warringal Hospital Heidelberg. Day 3 of the pre op diet & could have eaten anything but I didn't. Anyway if you are in Melbourne and live in Northern suburbs I'd love to start a support group for meetings etc. I hope everyone is well Cheers Sue alias Aussie

Hi guys, I need some help please.

I had two weird "attacks" last night, first one about 8 and lasted around 10 minutes, then second about 10 that lasted nearly an hour. Had the ambulance here, I thought I was gonna die.

Both times it happened within 10 minutes of me eating. I haven't had any previous problems.

The pain started dull in my stomach them progressed until I was doubled over and I was screaming. I couldn't help it and I'm not a wuss, I can usually handle pain quite well. The pain went right across my stomach and then up under my right ribs, it was difficult to breathe and it was the same whether I layed down, walked or stood up. I was scared as I thought it may have something to so with my Gall but because the pain wasn't present when the ambo'a arrived, they couldn't help me. Also I noticed that last time after the pain subsided, which was quite quick, I kept bringing up thick saliva.

I am going to my GP this morning, I am very scared to eat now though, I am sipping on drinks and trying to build up the courage to have a Protein Shake, does anyone have any ideA what this may be? I wasn't sure but thought I'd read Puppyphat had problems recently and wondered if they were at all similar?

Thanks in advance, I hope you can help me out. And YES I am going to Dr this morning but any ideas I may be nle to give her would be helpful as she is just a GP

Ta Jen

Thanks so much, I had a feeling it may be something like that. I asked as well in the main area of VST and LauraVen suggested just the same, I'm going to ask my GP and see if there is something she can do for me. Fingers crossed its not another hospital trip anytime soon.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
