Ugh really awful day today and very stressful...it's days like this that I really notice (1) how I can no longer eat when stressed and (2) that I really have very few other coping strategies besides food. I am not joking - I stopped at woolies on the way home from work and bought M&M's, mint bubbly chocolate and that cadbury marvellous stuff that has the snapping candy in it. It's all in the fridge - I won't eat it but ridiculously I still feel better for buying it. Sigh. I will take it in to work tomorrow and be a hero with the admin staff :)

Have now had a shower (after a good cry) and a whinge to you guy's. I am going to call a mate soon to unload on her...stupid work ruining my life lol...hope you guy's are going better!

I didn't 'like' because you had a bad day, but I love that you're finding other ways to deal with stress. Much better to talk to a friend than pull up the couch and eat :)

I didn't think I was an emotional eater (I thought that was a chick thing, pretty sexist eh? :P )

But I am. I don't like feeling stress or being under pressure, but I'm enjoying the chance to deal with it other ways B):)

Hi everyone . I am 4 days post op home and feeling really good, just wanted to ask a question though. When drinking is it "normal to feel a sort of uncomfortable feeling as if you can feel it going all the way down ? Doesn't happen all the time so I'm not sure if it's just pain from gas ? Feeling great but this is concerning me. Appreciate any feedback you all may have :)

Hey Lila - you are doing great - my problem is that I actually eat the stuff! I am definitely a comfort eater - any stress or if I am upset I am thinking about pancakes or scones with jam and whipped cream - can't eat it of course but just the fact that my mind goes there is quite interesting. Unfortunately, chocolate seams to go down although not much of it thank goodness.

Completely normal! You will have a lot of swelling so you will feel a bit of discomfort, just take small sips. I also remember my drinks gurgling all the way down. It doesn't happen too often now.

I ate two quickly today and was sick - I obviously still have a lot to learn - just when I thought I was the master!!

Lila I hear ya! I still do that, feel stressed and then go to the supermarket and buy all this junk food that I actually dont want to eat but still feel like I have to buy. I notice I buy chocolate even tho I get very little enjoyment out of eatting it anymore. Most days I buy it and then give it away....tho there are days I eat it.

I admit to being an emotional eatter, and having the ankle injury has meant I havent been able to get out and walk and run like I have been over the last few months...guess the mind is always the last thing to be fixed.

Atleast in 2 days I will be off to New Orleans, the only thing to worry about over there is drinking too many hurricanes...cause all the fried food does nothing for me. Travelling should also help me get in a better headspace, broken ankle and all :)

Sconatsam, that is normal. I noticed it especially with Water, it sat really heavy in the stomach. If I put some low sugar cordial in it, went down so much easier.

Having drinks nice and cold also seems to help it go down

Like everyone has said, normal.

I remember getting this feeling where the liquid would feel suspended for a second then 'drop' with some discomfort. It goes, but don't let it stop you from sipping!

Dean, I have no idea, not sure if it is the Water on the staples or something. In my case everything should be well and healed over those things and I still sometimes get that weird feeling with cold water...

It does come alot less often nowadays...but the sleeve can be a temperamental mistress at times lol

She sure can be! Good example - I had half a chicken, cheese and avo sandwich last week and it was fine. Today, puking my guts up on the side of the road on my way to an important meeting - of course! No rhyme or reason to it...temperamental is a good say to describe it!!

That's why she said "temperamental mistress" and not master!! *RUNS* :P :P

A pretty versatile nutritious seed. I've made this choc chia pudding for tonight. I'll let you know what it's like. I substituted the maple Syrup with sugar free maple and some stevia.

Dean I finally made the chocolate Chia pudding tonight and it is soooo yummy. Strange that it doesn't actually need cooking. I made it with coconut milk and will try it with the others too. Thanks for the tip.

Hey Dean, I really want to try your famous chocolate chia. Am currently on puréed foods and due to start on mushie/soft foods on the weekend. Would this pudding be suitable to eat on the mushie food stage? Thanks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
