Good luck KelBel (my name is Kelli and when I was younger that was my nick name for a while - LOL) Welcome to this thread and good luck for your upcoming surgery. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Although none of us are experts, most of us have experience of one type or another.

Congrats!! Where abouts on the Coast are you getting yours done? I had mine done by Dr Silverman at John Flynn. Dr Silverman was awesome!!

10 weeks post op today. Jump onto the scales, Wednesday is my official weigh day. I'm down 30 kilos. Really happy with today as a mile stone. 8 more kilos and I'll be under 100. I think the last time I was under 100 was at the Police Academy!

Yes, it's interesting how conflicting treatment is between doctors for the same issue. I have learned not to bother mentioning that you'd read about other treatment protocols because 9 times out of 10 they don't like well informed patients. They naturally think you're an idiot and take everything you read as the word of God and will tell you to STAY OFF THE INTERNET; LISTEN TO ME, AND ONLY ME. I think it makes them feel, in a way, threatened.

Anyway, that's what he wants me to do, so thats what I will do.

Reading other posts about sleep apnea, I am a mouth breather with chronic OSA so have to use a full face mask cpap machine. The ENT I saw told me that losing weight would help but considering other factors (like my very narrow throat, "floppy" soft pallet and uvula, and ginormous tongue - yes, he actually used the word ginormous....I left with the visual of Shamu "smiling" for the camera at Sea World - that even if I lost ALL my excess weight that I'd probably still have OSA to some degree. I would like to prove him wrong and get rid of this damn thing. Look, it keeps me alive and God knows I can't sleep without it blowing air into me, but it's a pain in the arse, because you always have to make sure that wherever you go you have access t power. camping with a generator to run your bloody cpap machine is just annoying! It's one more thing to lug around and it's NOISY! I have a love/hate relationship with it. I know I require it, but I don't WANT to require it.

Hi Kristi, I know how you feel abput the CPAP machine as I have the same relationship with it. Luckily I have always been able to just use a small Swift FX silicone mask which is a soft pillow sitting under the nostril and is unobtrusive. My aim is to get off the machine completely and I could stop using it now, but I still feel better after using it for the moment. Let's hope you prove your sleep doctor wrong!!!

Well firstly yesterday being Tuesday was my weigh in day.....104.8 kgs a total of 5.1 kgs lost on my pre-op diet. Didn't post yesterday because I had band removed and was sleeved yesterday. All good, have been very sleepy since op but should be going home tomorrow morning. My oxygen is quite low and have a temp tonight so hopefully that will sort itself out by the morning. Cheers everyone.

Congratulations, that's fantastic news and you can now on with getting used to the sleeve and losing the weight permanently. It's great he did it all on the same day.i was in hospital for three nights and they would not let me go home until my temp went down and drains stopped running, although it doesn't sound like you have any in. Happy healing and keep up those fluids.
