Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Yes- I remember that feeling well!

It felt like your whole mouth had a coating on it. I used this tea tree mount wash that was alcohol free (supposed to work better) and it kept that feeling away for a while.

I can't wait! :) I bought some crab meat because I wanted a stronger taste. It goes down TOO well. Straight out the other end.

Crab meat. That's the best Constipation cure I've heard yet! ;):)

I have a question for all the 3+ months post op sleevers. I am 4 months out and today at lunch I was able eat a whole tin of tuna with 5 crackers. (one of those tuna thingys that come with it all one) I have never been able to eat a whole one. It did take me 25 mins. I know it's probably not even a half a cup, but just checking this is normal? I have been eating do little since the beginning am a little scared my sleeve has stretched.

It varies from day to day with me. Some days I can eat a big meal and I think "wow, I shouldn't have been able to do that" then other days, 2 bites and I'm stuffed. Today was one of those days. I can usually eat a tub of yoghurt no worries, today I only got 1/2 way before I felt full. I usually wait 10-20mins then give it another go, if I still feel full, I toss the rest. Sometimes I find just by waiting, I can finish the portion.

And by big meal, I mean a fillet of salmon about the size of a toothpaste tube.

I'm about 3 1/2 months out.

Sorry 'crackers, but would feel quite full. I don't believe our sleeves are really able to stretch. My surgeon told me it is almost impossible and that the bit hey didn't cut away is the least stretchy part. I am not worried.

Thanks kelliv, it was the first time I ate it and didn't feel uncomfortable. Yes I was full. I did hear that too that it's not going to stretch, but your mind gets away from you, thinking I will just go back to how I was before, as I have done so many times before.

Hello all, I posted about a month ago but was waiting to see surgeon as to talking about removing band and being sleeved. In the meantime i have been addicted to this strand and have been quite motivated by all the posts. I have had my band for two miserable years. Anyhow the good news is that I saw my surgeon today and I have a date.....15 January!!!!!!!! He is going to remove band and if everything looks ok will do the sleeve in the same op. I am very excited although he said I have a two out of three chance of the sleeve being done at the same time providing there is minimal scarring caused by the band. So I won't know until I wake up from the op whether both procedures have been done. He said he will err on the side of caution so I can't really argue with that. I have to do two weeks of Optifast so it all starts in the new year. Woo hoo!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
