I bought Gillian's 30 day shred today, I'm six weeks post op so will be walking the girls to school everyday- 6k a day-, doing some light yoga this week, trying some 10mins runs and maybe will start the 30 day shred next week! Although I have lost 16kilos I was called an "Inward thinking, self absorbed piece of garbage" and "you really are a fat & miserable scum of the earth excuse for a mother" by a very unpleasant man over the weekend and am in need of a positive self esteem injection in the form of healthy eating and exercise! Because the best revenge is a happy healthy life :-D

Recently, I heard a great new expression to use either out loud, in the case of the extremely unsavoury man, or in your head if you don't want to offend someone "Control, Delete" meaning that whatever it is that you have just heard is not welcome in your life now and you are permanently deleting it from your memory in just the same way as you delete unwanted text from a document.

You are so much better than him because you are taking responsibility for your own life and not belittling others in the process.

Hang in there, you are doing a great job and I look forward to hearing about your success.

Thanks one_elle26. I have been dealing with his abusive crap for so long. We were together for 7 years and it's been 7 years since we separated. Despite all this time apart and the fact that he is engaged and has a one ur at old boy he is still very abusive. I have had many domestic violence orders against him and one that is still current...however it is obviously a waste of time as he is still able to get away with it as police don't do anything to enforce it and the courts are even less helpful. So I no longer report it, I can't change it or him so I accept it as it is and spend my energy on me and my girls and ignore his comments....but every now and again they still get to me!

Hello fellow sleevers.

Sorry again it's been so long since I have signed in but wow, things have been moving quickly.

Last Friday I was discharged from hospital. In the end, I asked to be discharged as I couldn't face another night in hospital. After two months, I'd had enough and as soon as I felt I was able, I wanted outta there!

Yesterday I arrived home in Gunnedah and it is so wonderful to be in my own house! I am so pleased to be home!

It's been a difficult transition to having to rely on me to have enough fluids and nutrition. I admit I am not doing as well as I would have hoped. I am only managing about 1.5L a day of fluids including "food" like Soup etc. Although it is getting a little easier every day it's really hard. I wasn't expecting it to be this hard!

So I have a question for the forum - in the first week post op (which essentially where I am I guess), did you struggle too? I get uncomfortable so quickly and food is simply unpalatable most of the time. I do get hungry but not for what I can eat. Mostly I am having yoghurt or Soup to eat and the rest of the time, it's Water with a little juice in it. I've had a callippo today which was nice (thanks for the suggestion Jules) but mostly everything is super sweet and just a bit gross.

The discomfort I feel is like a pressure in my stomach. In the past few days it does seem that it takes a little more for me to feel this way (now it's about 75-100 mL I can get in before feeling like this). I am also really struggling to get in Protein. Not having shakes as I just can't manage it. I am hoping that when I move on to the next phase it will be easier.

Thanks again for all your support over the last few months. It's meant a terrible lot to me and Iook forward to posting better news.

Weight update - I've lost 26kg so far. Not the way I wanted to lose weight but at least it's coming off :) I am almost into the 130's - last weighed at the dieticians on Monday at 140.3 (shoes on lol)...

Lila, good to see you home and posting.

I remember that feeling and still get it when I eat too much or too fast.

Try not to put too much pressure on yourself in regards to Protein....main thing is to focus on getting fluids in to avoid dehydration. and make sure you have some Vitamin supplements. It does get easiest, we all try to follow all the rules so closely but we should also listen to our bodies. I did not do the shakes either, ick ick but did put a non flavoured Protein mix in Soups etc.

I would say congrats about the weight loss but I know it didn't come easy......in a few months you wont know yourself

Oh and yes the head hunger is horrible initially....I was a food porn addict for sure.

The calipos and icy poles are absolute saviours...also try low sugar cordiAl in Water, Water often feels heavy...still happens occasionally

Hi Lila - it is so great to see you back and starting the journey through the stages!

Yes - the way you are feeling is exactly how I felt so sounds pretty normal to me. 1.5 - 2l of liquid is the goal so if your getting in 1.5 you should be ok. I remember it took me so long to drink my shakes (which did taste sweet and disgusting by the way) I felt I was literally drinking all day. As soon as I finished one and then had a drink of Water in between it was time to have another one! It gets easier as each day/week goes by. I still have to have a water bottle with me all the time to remember to drink to get that minimum of 1.5 litres in a day and if I eat too much, I feel that pressure. This is the new normal for me now to go with the new me!

23kg is a great loss so well done. You will be amazed at how quickly you won't have anything to wear because it is all too big! Enjoy your transformation!

Hi Lila, great to hear you are at home and starting to get into the swing of the next stages. Everything you have described sounds very normal and every day it will get easier, even though it may not feel like it at the time. You are doing the right things and as you start to feel better you will want more variety. Keep you your fluids, multi Vitamins and benefibre, lots of tasty Soups, vege or fruit juices etc.

When do you think you will start back at work? They will be amazed when they next see you. Stay positive as you always have before and you will be fine.

So happy to hear the good news Lila! Being in your own home, surrounded by loved ones, sleeping in your own bed, you are going to heal wonderfully with all this positive around you! As everyone has said, entirely normal, you will probably be more intune with your body than most after all u have been through. So it will guide you, don't worry. I think u are doing really well- maybe tmi, but I was usually guided by the colour of my pee! Lol. As long as it was light to clear I wasn't going to stress too much about exactly how much I have taken in- at least for the first couple of weeks anyway. Now i am able to have liquids so easily that drinking 2-3 liters isnt a problem. I found going for a light walk felt really good for the soul during this time too. xx

On fluids, I struggle to drink just one litre a day. Just doesn't go down. Even I'd I put a tiny bit of cordial in it, it's still a struggle.

I'm 4 months post op today and 28.4kg down.

I don't feel as though its much compared to others.

Nessa I wouldn't go comparing your weightloss to others, it will only make you feel bad! If you had lost 28kg pre sleeve you would be so darn proud of yourself, so try and put it in perspective in that sense. It is still a great amount of weight to loose and think of the difference that amount of loss has done for your body! Trust me I do understand your frustration though....I'm still hovering around the same weightloss for the last few weeks and craved choc and chips sooo bad today that I just slept all day to avoid buying them (day off today) probably not the best solution but I couldn't face struggling against my old self today. I'm not sure what to advise about the water...the cordial works for me and I take my bottle everywhere with me, even short trips to the shops and sip sip sip...I have no doubt you are trying that though. Today is a blah day for me...

Hi all,

I'm feeling much better after surgery on the 15th, felt horrid for a week, then exhausted this week! Tomorrow I'm going to Sydney markets with a friend, my first real 'outing', feel like I've been a real hermit (normally I'm out and about on weekends and after work) so I'm looking forward to it :-)

Went back to work on Tuesday and then crashed and burned, took Wed to Fri off sick, saw my GP and they were great explaining that I need to adjust and I'm still healing.

Can't wait to take these dressings off and start doing some sport or something! Stomach is still sore, muscle pain and a little bit where I've got my one internal stitch (from where my stomach come out).

I have been struggling to get the required Protein in, but fluids are ok and I can drink Water without any dramas. Some things taste really sweet now and I'm having to adjust, milky stuff is just too creamy too sometimes.

Glad to see ppl who have had complications getting home, I really struggled for the first 24 hours with vomiting on the hour every hour and hurt my stomach muscles terribly. Luckily though the nurses sorted me out and I was out of hospital after 4 days. My heart goes out to ppl who have had serious complications, at least we have good surgeons here who minimise these risks and look after us if we do get the complications.

I've lost about 12kg so far incl the 2 week pre op where I lost about 6. So I'm a week and a half post op and 6kg down since d-day, seriously I felt like I should've lost 10kg in hospital with the absolutely 0 food lol but I know I need to not look at the s ales every day but every week and focus on just getting better atm and getting in my fluids :-) I started at 123kg and I'm 111kg now, I'm 5ft9.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
