Gooood morning everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I did Run Ballarat yesterday and walked 6km in a time of 55 minutes. Last year I did Run Geelong (30kg heavier) and that took me 1hr 30 min. I'll be doing it again this year' date=' so my aim is to beat my Run Ballarat time.

Fingers crossed tomorrow I'll hit the double figures! I did last night and this morning when I jumped on the scales, but official weigh in day is Tuesday morning...which will also mark 4 months since my op.[/quote']

Well done Nessa that is a fantastic achievement on the run and good luck in reaching your double figure milestone this week.

1 week in to preop and the hunger has settled but the temptation is killing me. I seem to notice so much yummy food that I used to probably just walk past ( or just eat cause I could) and its a struggle. Good news is only 1 week to go. Another positive note I've lost 4kgs since doing preop :) I am sooooo looking forward to getting this op and living life again, I've put a lot of my life on hold till I get this op. I had a lil melting moment at work the other day when I split my pants and nearly bawled like a lil schoolgirl. Life is gunna be sooooo good. Anyhoo enuf of my rant. Lila ur doing great it must be a relief to b free from hospital!!! Thanks everyone for the positive comments and Monday is My Day......

Great work Scotty! It is really hard and the worst stage in my opinion. I am just over 3 months post surgery, and as at Friday, I have lost 30kg. We all have our

Melt downs and there may be times after surgery that you think 'what the hell did I do' but once you start seeing the weight come off, getting the compliments and feeling better, you will never look back. This is life changing and will take some adjustments but for me it has all been worth it! All the best for your surgery!

Wow I'm impressed Nessa! I could never imagine myself running that far let alone how long it would take me!

Hi Sue' date=' you really are 'stuck' aren't you? My dietician advised that the most important foods to ensure Constipation is alleviated are grainy carbs, such as brown rice, grainy breads/wraps, crackers, quinoa etc. i have ceo,iac disease, so cannot eat gluten which makes this more of a challenge, but I persevere as constipation is the pits. I thought fruit and vege would have been the key but it's the whole grains instead. Wy not try adding in 2 slices of grainy bread a day with a Protein & salad topping?[/quote']

Thanks Kelli - over the years I have tried all sorts of different food and nothing seems to move me (literally). I have desire to stick to the meds and Water as this seems to be working. The last thing I want at this stage is a bowel blockage - can you imagine!

God no.....no running. I walked it. If I ran I'd give myself 2 black eyes.

My aim is to run next year....with good support to hold down all that excess flab.

:-) I am still impressed! Went for a walk last week for 6 km and it took me hour and a half - it was hilly but I was so buggered. I came home and had to have a sleep!

I just learnt the other day from a friend that is doing an intense course with a personal trainer that Protein stops muscles aching after exercise - hence body builders having Protein Shakes after working out. I have never learnt so much about nutrition as I have in the last 3 months!

Good luck shell, you will do well because you want to. Just got home from a walk, with minimal fill in my band I am finding I am wanting to eat more so need to compensate. Roll on the sleeve.

Shelley with your determination and commitment you will do well. You are going to be so hot by the time the rest of your family sees you at Christmas. I recently joined the Goodlife gym at Bardon which comes with 4 personal training sessions. I've been a few ties, but had a cyst cut out of the top of my back last week so am a bit restricted for the next week. I am also travelling with my business, so will be away all of next week in the Whitsundays. It will be a busy week, but I am still determined to swim every day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
